To be fair I have not watched Extreme Peace yet and am waiting for the full season to be released to watch it all at once. I think there are 2 more episodes left but have not checked in a while. Charls was mad Sam didn't bend the knee. I respect Charls too and love his stuff as well and genuinely think Sam and Nick are both very funny but without Charls were absolutely missing the critical spark the way both David Gilmour and Roger Waters' solo work did. Same for Charls' solo stuff. There is a synergy that feels borderline providential between their collaboration. That said, I am glad Sam stood tall, they went through what they did (which was unfortunate and Charls was upset over because it meant losing the seat and having to work construction again). MDE team rebuilt an entire payment processor/streaming/video hosting/etc. structure that is more solid and their career will crystalize into freer creative expression. Having a centralized patron is corrosive to art and sucks the life out of it makes creating anything a struggle between making what you actually want and making what advertisers and executives want you to make.
