Infinite Jest but unironically. Do a No-Footnote speedrun, then go over it the normal, DFW-approved way.

You're as retarded as you're going to be. Books won't make you any more intelligent.

Chris-Chan levels of insane logic here. If Klassen was alive he would NEVER be with you.

Freakonomics is pretty good at showing you to think outside the box. A cheesy little book called you're not so smart will give you a basic entry level introduction to some things that will make you less stupid. After that it's deep diving into certain things which generally means information dense boring books.

One thing I've been getting into is books on mentalism. They won't make you smarter per say but you'll learn how to manipulate people in fun ways and you'll feel smarter than other people but you're really just using mind tricks. Good little practical use of psychology.

You can't really make yourself much smarter but teaching yourself about the bullshit your brain does and critical thinking is good enough.

You can be super smart, read a load of books and become an expert on something but you can't just read a load of books and become super smart. You can increase your knowledge and learn little things that you can use to bullshit people you're smarter than you are though.

The average lit fag will just tell you to read Russian novels and increase your vocab though but fuck them niggas.

Reading doesn't make you smart. Gaining insight into things doesn't make you smart either. If you're a dummy dum dum you're a dum dum until you die. Then you're just nothing. Focus on being happy over obsessing with intelligence. The gates are closed to you bro

Just a tip for the younger guys. If you do skip this book you'll stop giving a fuck as you get older. If you're young, can read it and apply it it's a 10 - 15 year shortcut though so don't skip it.

what? why would you do no endnotes, or a purposeful “speedrun” of a book? the endnotes don’t function as explanations for the dumb, they’re woven into the book and affect its pacing and narrative. it’s not any smarter to skip them, that just inhibits you from actually experiencing the piece
