That isn't arbitrary. Inflicting pain on others while in the pursuit of pleasure is arbitrary though. And since your pleasure largely depends on other people in various ways, inflicting pain pain on others is unavoidable when pursuing desires. However, there are good and skillful desires which are aimed at pain and not pleasure. Inflicting pain on others is just such a desire. For they largely benefit the people involved who, being sinful, disgusting, and egotistical rats, rightly deserve all pain that comes their way. It's just a shame that this beneficial experience should be so unevenly distributed.

Bad argument. Hedonistic actions feel good, it is animalistic to want to feel good and although we are human we are still animals. Christianity elevates humanity from the beasts by curtailing hedonism and warning of its dangers.
