Start with the obvious: The Bible, Quran, Baghdad Gita, any religious text you might be interested in. Read it like you would read fiction. What characters/lines resonated with you? "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" is one of my favorite lines in the Bible for example, I find a lot of beauty in that story. Naturally though, it's possible you don't find any of these texts moving. I would suggest looking into theology at that point. What do you think God is like? Do you think there is one God or many? Those are the questions you should be asking yourself. Narrow down your search to a few religions, and remember to always be reading. I would stay away from books like
>>24715164 simply because they might be too complicated, and that's not what you need right now. I'll be honest with you for a second - I myself am agnostic, not aligned with any particular religion. If you want to devote yourself to a religion, the most unbiased answer I can give you is Christianity. I have seen it's transformative effects myself. But overall OP, understand that faith won't just cure your mental issues. You need to work on yourself. Belief in God helps, but you are the one who has to do the work. I hope you find peace.
