I would agree to some extent with this. I think that reading about how to be more productive can superficially replicate the feeling of productivity which can then put the reader in a loop of reading more books to feel productive rather than taking action.

If anything I pity them for falling into scams that easily. At least the genreslop readers of this board are somewhat aware what they are reading is indeed worthless slop, they just make mental gymnastics around that to either claim everything is worthless slop or that art is purely escapist in nature 100% of the time with no higher insight to be had. Self help people are just sad specially given how little those types of books ACTUALLY add to someone's understanding of the world and the human spirit compared to actual high literature. You can learn a lot more about human behaviour and psychology from french realists and modernist than you could ever hope with a fuck load of mass printed american paperweights

All those books are full of advice any intelligent person can figure out themselves. My cousin read one of these self help books and was crying over the most basic advice. This stuff is for literal retards that have never sat down and thought about anything beyond what they’re gonna make for food tomorrow.

All these books have advice that is ultimately inconsequential and only benefits first worlders. Whatever is inside these books isn’t gonna benefit some pajeet that makes 11 dollars a day. They’re screwed from birth. Thes ebooks are essentially intellectual salves to infantile idiots that can’t think for themselves.

There are only four actually good "Self help" books.

Influence by Cialdini (Basically a lecture in psychology)
The Evolution of Desire by Buss (Basically a lecture on evolutionary biology)
The Intelligent Investor (Telling retards not to go gambling)
Thinking Fast and Slow + The errata by the author discussing the replication crisis.

With these you can easily become a millionaire, no expensive courses required.
