Not at all. Rivals sister and also a space wizard helps, but the whole ending of OG Gundam of Char saying Amuro is calling to her. The whole fight with Lalah, Amuro, Char, Sayla. The two men who hate each other, and the two women who love both men. Love both men is key.
Same way Mirai got with Bright after Sleggar died, Amuro should have with Sayla. The Lalah connection was weird and NT crazy, but Amuro and Sayla also had a more stable NT connection, fuck ton of shared trauma, good story telling bits as someone who knew of Lalah and also Char's sister, and investment in seeing peace.

It's great story telling potential. Also Amuro and Sayla deserve to be happy, at least temporarily.
