>>23253803 (OP)Is that planet of the apes?
>>23255026>Saru No Gundan/Army Of The ApesIt's not connected to the western Planet of the Apes. They were just cashing in on the popularity of it.
The first 13 episodes were subbed recently and are on nyaa. Super hyped for the last 13 to be subbed. I thought it'd never get subbed.
>>23252041I would have listened, but another anon was kind enough to make the new OP.
>>23255026Mst3k fans might remember this Sandy Frank helmed masterpiece.
>>23255282What are your thoughts on the show so far, anon?
Vectorman, a 1998 Korean Sentai clone, & to my knowledge the first Korean TV toku, ran for 2 seasons, 13 episodes each, & a movie in between. Can't for the life of me find the second season anywhere but maybe someone else can.
https://archive.org/details/vectormantoku
Friend once told me that as a kid he asked his mom for the Sega Genesis game Vectorman, & she came back with a Spectreman VHS.
>>23255282ooh, cool
I've skimmed the raws, it's kinda cool
>>23256133It's very 70s, but that's to be expected. I think it's really great though. Way better than the American PotA tv show and cartoon. Worse than the first 2 PotA movies, better than the rest of the original series.
Haven't seen the new reboot PotA series though.
>>23258363I think it's really cool.
>>23263239Did they upload anything with English subs in the last few months? I was pretty good at keeping up with the English subbed releases.
It's all spread across multiple HDDs, so I'm of no use for reupping.
>>23264011Unless someone has a list, then I could actually compile it all somewhere.
Time to rewatch Daimajin Kanon. Trying to decide if it's my favourite toku or not.
>>23266258I liked it, wish it was more popular.
Some people keep saying they want "Hibiki that never changed production in the middle," but when Takatera doing it I don't know if those people actually watching it or not.
OK so I wasn't planning to announce this until later but I'm remaking my remaster of The Space Giants/Ambassador Magma's dub from the ground up, 22 episodes in so far, but what I wanted to bring up was that, among the VHS bootlegs I'm sourcing the dub from (thanks The Nostalgic Podblast for uploading them), I found an actual English version of the theme song! Seemingly from when the dub was originally called Monsters From Outer Space before they settled on The Space Giants.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYFgqTIYlzc&t=3054s
Presumed lyrics:
Give a cheer, for Goldar's here, stronger than all men!
He's a rocket when he flies, and a robot on the ground again!
Hear Mikko's whistle calling Goldar to the fray, Zoom! Ker-boom!
You will see the family, Goldar, Silvar, Gam!
Watch them fight with all their might, it's a Zowie Powie plan!(?)
Hear Miko's whistle calling Goldar to the fray, Zoom! Ker-boom! Wow!
He is on his way! Give a cheer, for Goldar's here, strong and brave and true!
Monsters come from outer space and bring new thrills to you!(?)
>>23267274People just want their Kamen Rider year, so they can go "X is for me". Instead, they have to go "Hibiki* is for me".
*except all the parts I don't like
Daimajin Kanon is way better than people give it credit for. I wish I was smart enough to figure out where I can actually buy the manga.
>>23267949Woah what a find, I had no idea that English lyrics even existed or that was the planed title, I guess monsters from space didnโt work out because it didnโt incorporate the title of the heroes hence they came up with space giants. Also like that Star Wars music obviously added at the end once the audio cut off
Shinji Higuchi's Bullet Train remake (sequel) came out while 4chan was in the shadow realm and it wasn't discussed in the thread.
I thought it was a lot of fun, the first half especially is kinda like Shin Godzilla on train tracks and has some really thrilling action scenes.
The second half was a bit weaker, but I still enjoyed it.
Did you watch it? Did you like it?
>there's 18 episodes
>episode 7 just got subbed
Slow but steady.
>>23276096It's 18 but broken into two each, right? Feels weird, reminds me of old toku or anime episodes on Youtube.
>>23276238So you're saying that it's only 9 then?
My episode 7 is stuck downloading at 1.6%.
>>23276362no I mean they're 36, but because it broken into two full episodes they're technically 18
>>23276096I think one or both(?) of their translators are doing university right now. The one active on Xitter was talking about finals. They're going pretty fast all things considered.
I've been really enjoying Star Ray. I know they were/are planning on doing Captor, but there hasn't been any news about that with the reveal of the official English dub being AI'd Q_Q
So what's the best way to go about watching Specterman? Low quality English dub? Seems like the show subbed is a bit hard to find, let alone in good quality.
>>23279606Yeah just the dub, which isn't low quality anymore, there's a remaster.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWwbiDzEvsEmD9vtv8cN9zeKmq6RBnzDh
Only 2 episodes have been subbed.

Were subs ever finished?
>>23282698>Were subs ever finished?https://nyaa.si/view/1566808
>>23276096>>23276238So did re-edit the split episodes back together or is it just two episodes stitched back-to-back? One of the common complaints was that the editing made no sense in the 10min versions.
Whatever happened with the Kaiki Daisakusen subs?
>>23276096Watching the subs out of curiosity and oof, the poor subbers actually spent effort subbing the AI opening.
>>23274757I watched it and I enjoyed it a lot. The second half is a bit slower but I disagree that it's weaker, there is a lot of emotional payoffs and threads being tied in it that I thought were done pretty well, not to mention MULTI TRACK DORIFTO. And yeah it's very Shin Godzilla like but just because Shin Godzilla is very Japanese.
>>23284735The YouTube channel they were posted on got nuked, & the guy doing them is bizarrely *very insistent* on not putting them anywhere else until he completes them, which wouldn't be so much of a problem if not for the fact that he's also bizarrely *very insistent* on not continuing with them until he gets a *very specific* LD rip of the banned 24th episode. Like I got nothing against the guy, but just saying, sometimes good enough is good enough.
>>23284545I never watched the short episodes, so I'm not sure.
>>23285672>until he gets a *very specific* LD rip of the banned 24th episode. The bright side is that since the episode only started to be removed from circulation in the mid-90s. So you can technically buy VHS tapes and LDs from before then that have the episode on them. Hell, you can sometimes find the box set with the episode included that got cancelled so late that retailers were actually selling it BEFORE the street date.
So, technically speaking, it is possible to have a copy of Kyouki Ningen that looks better than the rip that's online now.

So this only a toku in the much looser sense but maybe you guys might be interested? Toei announced they were going to rerun PGSM in July then removed it from their site. I swear this show is cursed.
This might be more appropriate here.
Toei is casting extras for a tokusatsu movie that possibly isn't Rider or Sentai.

>>23295642oh fuck I actually saw the tweet but only saved the still image

>>23299304This is probably the reason
>>23299324>I'm honestly surprised this didn't end up on Pluto's Sailor Moon channel.I forget, wasn't there something about Takeuchi being buttmad about PGSM like how she forbade Toei Stars forever?
>>23299344If this is about Discotek can't get the license, it's probably because every Sailor Moon licenses are on Viz Media.
>>23299360no? I just have a vague nonspecific thing of "Naoko is mad about things" like why Stars never came out beyond LD
>>23299344If she mad at them then Keiko Kitagawa won't voice Sailor Cosmos in the new anime movie.
Although she probably got cast because of her star power, her being live action Mars is just a bonus.
>>23299344>Takeuchi being buttmad about PGSM I've heard she loves it and was super involved. And I've heard that she hates it. I don't know what to believe.
>>23299741We're baka gaijin. All of our information is sketchy at best.
I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying the MONKE toku, it's a neat product of its time.
>>23256181Huh. This looks honestly better than I expected. Especially the action and the suits. Hopefully someone is interested in subbing it.
>>23278711>AI English dubPlease post a clip that sounds like it's funny as hell
>>23263239Didn't his stuff get compromised last I heard? Some scammer email or something iirc
>>23299741>>23299405>>23299368>>23299344Japanese Wikipedia says she's was heavily involved in the toku and that's because she didn't like how she barely had any control over the anime when that was a thing. Seems she's more indifferent to the old anime than anything going by what's out there.
>>23302429Original anime >>>> PGSM >>>>> Manga >>>>> Crystal
Turns out that her opinion is trash then. The manga is too rushed, and the original anime solved that. Plus the Makai Tree arc is the peak of Sailor Moon, and it's not even in the manga.
>>23303792>Makai Tree arc is the peak of Sailor Moonit really is a nice little bit
>>23302429I'm probably misremembering bad rumors

I'm convinced this is never actually coming out and is a Kickstarter "take the money and run" scam, especially considering the star has been dead for over two years now.
>>23306932I learned my lesson from the Kickstarter video game era. I got burned once, and decided that I'd only ever crowdfund something that I knew would be completed.
There's a few board game companies that crowdfunded exclusive art version of their existing games, and I was comfortable with funding that, because the company already had proven themselves.

It has more action from the actors than TOKU!
Just finished the few subbed Rainbowman episodes and gotta say it was quite innovative for its time: serialized storytelling with clever use of cliffhangers and not trying to shove mandatory fight scenes in every episode. It also touched on quite sensitive topics for a kidsโ show as well.
Looking forward to the rest.
Got the second Akakage set coming in by the end of the month.
Anyone got links for Cybercop around? I was gonna show a friend how cool it is but pretty much every link possible is dead, and that one ddos attack archive had a while back deleted the collection on there.

Though given how poorly preserved the only available copies of the dub audio are, constantly fluctuating audio quality, & the dub cutting in & out in the middle of sentences, I'm really not so much remastering it as desperately cobbling this show back together with glue & duct tape.

Years ago, when I uploaded the first version of my remaster of Ambassador Magma's dub to both YouTube & Archive, they got taken down, the former even eventually getting my entire YouTube account nuked. I'm not 100% sure on this so grain of salt, but from what I understand, I THINK what's going on because of all the legal headaches caused by someone pulling a Chaiyo & fraudulently claiming to own the dub for years, the guy who originally owned it the first place is not only somehow still alive but in fact seemingly STILL owns the dub when you'd think it'd have reverted to P-Pro by now, & yeah now takes it down from everywhere. So naturally, for my new version I uploaded it as "A remaster of the English dub of a classic tokusatsu show that shall not be named or else it'll get taken down." BUT I GUESS THAT WASN'T QUITE SNEAKY ENOUGH because it got taken down anyway & now my Archive account's locked. Though don't panic, my Archive account & the rest of everything on it *is still there*, I just can't log in, & therefore can't add new stuff or add *to* existing stuff.

OK so in the early 80's South Africa did a Gerry Anderson-esque sci-fi puppet show called Interster, which ran for a total of 39 episodes across 2 seasons. In 2022 I uploaded it on my now-nuked original Archive account & now I'm re-uploading it to my new one, but once again my failure to anticipate that nuking has bitten me in the ass. The original upload had nearly every episode, only missing 20, 22, & 26, which don't appear to be anywhere on the internet. Thing is, in the intervening time the YouTube channel I originally sourced from has since lost almost the entire back half of season 1. So on the off chance, the VERY off chance anyone reading this downloaded the series from my original upload, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could provide any of the unaccounted for episodes.

>>23351991It's a toku film because the extras are from TTFC
The only hint we have is that it isn't Rider nor Sentai, plus that the extras will play prisoners
But the additional information the leaker gave implies it's an old ip
>>23351991The original post from TTFC said "tokusatsu hero film."
If it's Rider but they don't want to reveal it yet they would call it "Kamen Rider film," same with Sentai.

>>23253803 (OP)so someone finally uploaded a copy of Kikkai-Senben: Metal Hero Series Monster Chronicle, only problem is it's on E-Hentai and due to how that site handles downloads(where you need points for non-torrent downloads) which leaves me unable to just grab it from there as I don't have sufficient points to do so, if anyone here can download it and reupload it somewhere else and share it here I'd heavily appreciate it;

what does Metal Hero have that the big three donโt?
>>23348530Taiga's actor's voice is deep as hell
Anyway I hope this is good, Hagane was alright and I really enjoyed the emphasis on practical effects in parts of it but it really needed twice as many episodes for what it was trying to do
>>23355675thanks
>>23355995>what does Metal Hero have that the big three donโt?well the differences with Ultraman should be obvious(well aside from the ULTRAMAN manga), with Super Sentai it's generally it aiming for a slightly older audience and only occasionally dipping into the giant robot stuff that's Sentai's bread and butter, and as for Kamen Rider, well that's the sticky part there really isn't too much difference between the two, which is probably why the Metal Hero franchise has mostly(aside from some nostalgia stuff for the Space Sherriff Trilogy) been dormant since Kamen Rider got revived with Kuuga
I'm about to begin work on Rainbowman 14-26, get psyched.
>>23357002Thank you very much anon, good luck
>>23356735The thing is Metal Hero felt too specific to either space or rescue police genre for most of the time, while Rider and Sentai can do those themes themselves anyway, so bringing back Metal Hero is unnecessary unless it's only for the nostalgia of the past series.
They should've done Decade/Gokaiger-like Metal Hero, Gavan Type G was sorta like that by having him do Juspion finisher in Space Squad, but maybe that's not enough.
>>23356573His face kinda looks like the late Hiroyuki Watanabe too, crazy that the actor is even younger than Raiga and Ryuga's actors.
Surprised this set got more B-Fighters than Space Sheriffs.

>>23360810nope

this is Army of the Apes (aka Time of the Apes)
>>23360833Not anon but I read somewhere that the ape masks from spectreman were at some point reused in Sara no gundan, with so many masks present I cannot tell if thatโs true or not. Paradoxically enough though partly related, the guy that did the ape masks for the original TPOTA DID work at P productions being part of ambassador magmaโs production crew, could it be possible he also did the masks on spectreman as well and if so that means thereโs an authentic connection between the rip-off and the classic.
>>23360912>he guy that did the ape masks for the original TPOTA DID work at P productions being part of ambassador magmaโs production crew, that seems roughly like Stan Winston worked on Star Wars Holiday Special
Not exactly /otg/ but did TV-Nihon's own torrent tracker gone?
I want to download some of their subbed dramas and can't seem to open the site.
Nice to see Kawaii! JeNny is finally getting subbed after years of being almost completely unavaible online. I must say, the tone is all over the place though, with some episodes seemingly actually is trying to be a slice of life girls show with them just so happening to have some Toku elements in it and doing otherwise fairly normal stuff, then you get absolutely batshit insane episodes with the monsters and villains. I feel that makes it even weirder.

Did someone post Messenger of Allah's first episode subbed here in the past threads? Felt like I downloaded it but forgot where I put it after.

Alright so this isn't a toku in that it's not even live-action so please bear with me, but it is a showa superhero anime, & one I think y'all might be interested in!
Yuusei Kamen (Planet Mask) is a 1966 B&W superhero anime by the studio TCJ, now known as Eiken, most famous for Tetsujin, 8-Man, & UFO Diapolon. Known for hard-hitting anti-war & anti-oppression themes, reminiscent of Cyborg 009.
& someone subbed the first 13 episodes so here that is if you're interested.
https://archive.org/details/yusei-kamen/
ใขใใญใฎ้จๅฃซ (The Knight Of Apollo), an uber-obscure never-reprinted 1959 manga, & a tie-in for a unproduced TV show. It's credited to Kouhan Kawauchi of Moonlight Mask & Rainbowman fame. They even wrote a theme song that, to my knowledge, was never recorded.
>>233912212 more late 50's early 60's manga meant to tie in to unmade TV shows, which thankfully have been reprinted, ๅคช้ฝไปฎ้ข (Sun Mask), again created by Kouhan Kawauchi, & ๅฎๅฎไบบใใใ (Spaceman Mach), created by Akirou Mune & drawn by Daiji Kazumine.
Is Marvel to cheap to hire Plex for a proper design?
>>23390949Well Iโll say itโs certainly right there with the anti-war themes, even the very first lyrics of his theme is literally โstop making warsโ Never heard of this series but again this period of Japanese television is somewhat overlooked save for the iconic shows like ultraman or giant robo.
>>23391221Seems like it had some development done already before its cancellation, even suits appear to have been made. Wonder why?
>>23391233Sun maskโs head crest looks nearly identical to the one worn by condorman, and he also somewhat resembles rainbowman. I could also envision how spaceman wouldโve been like given the budget at the time
>>23390949I'm pretty mixed on these subs, like on the one hand they're pretty rough in that they translate the lines very broadly & loosely, like they're only getting the basic gist of the lines. On the other hand that still puts it LEAPS AND BOUNDS above ARR bullshit, the original dialogue isn't contradicted, it clearly isn't blind guesswork, like it's definitely not ideal, I wish it was better but I have to concede it still WORKS, if only on a very base level, you can still enjoy the show just fine.
>>23348530hope itโs good, I love this series
>>23393347>Is Marvel to cheapYes.
>>23393347To be accurate it would just look like normal Venom with a wrist bracelet though
I see fuckers all over the place over thinking it thinking it has to look like a monster suit or make it look more like the 70s when it should follow the same idea Spider-man himself had as how they adapt a design that already exists
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAXnDXplHnc
Episode 3 of Vanguard Bataar was good, we'll have to see what happens with episode 4, to see if I was right about these episodes being halved.
>>23396260yeah that design is more in the direction of what a symbiote spider-man would look like rather than Venom.
Shit I forgot to mention!
Rainbowman episode 17 is in the bag!

>>23395012Just going by the first episode, I've seen worse when it comes to subs "only getting the basic gist of the lines." Like the old JN Productions subs for Battle Fever J that were preserved via beta tapes.
>>23398624How are they unlocked?
