Pretty good episode (and two parter) in general, but it feels a little late to be in the final quarter with no final boss development in sight. The inter-arc development is quite nice as well for both Hanto and Lakia, with Hanto abandoning his revenge because he doesn't want another kid to experience the same thing he did, while prepping Lakia for his own development in the next arc with the little talk he had with Shouma.

Directing wise there's some great shots as well, even something as small as the scene transition between Lakia + Shouma vs Jeebh into Hanto facing down the granute.

It's obvious Lango is coming back. Missing an eye, probably.
They still need to resolve that weird moment with him and Sachiko that happened in episode 11 also.
Trust the plan

Gavv as a whole has consistently been more concerned with the emotional/character beats more-so than any actual ongoing plot.

Even in-universe there's no *real* over-arching objective. The three Riders are just fighting the good fight against bad Granutes that pop up. The prospect of invading the Granute world to topple Stomach properly is a bit out of the question with how outgunned they are

Nice cope but Stomach Inc.'s activities are illegal in the Granute World, the whole Granute race isn't going to be hunting the Riders down for taking a criminal cartel down. The objective is to take the cartel down so they can stop killing people and ruining Granutes' lives, and to do that they just need to kill the ones running it.

Its not necessarily a bad thing. I caught up to Gavv on a 10 hours flight (basically the whole first cour) and my thought on it was that the episodic writing was very 90s/early 2000 Sentai-like. The day to day arcs are character focused, but the status quo shifts and character development are done gradually over the course of the show rather than characters being static with the "big character growth" arc coinciding with the mandatory upgrades, which is something Rider has gotten a bit stale at because of how many upgrades there are.

My main concern is that even with that structure, you still need to develop the villain group to an extent to have a satisfying finale, or you end up a bit like Double. The final two arcs were fantastic development capstone for both Phillip and Shotaro (and even Terui before that with both the Accel arc and the Old arc), but Museum as a whole fell flat as villain, and Foundation X never took off as a cross series super group Double kind of built it up to be. Stomach right now has even less to work with than Museum, and the remaining key players (Bocca, Nyelv, maybe Zombie Suga) are still in Q2-level of villain progression. Though it doesn't really help that Q2 is basically spent entirely on Suga and Hanto's arc

Doesn't that just mean the characters, or the MC at least, have constant major growth? Which is a good thing, compared to someone as static and repetitive as Shouma and his character arc.

I think him going missing will tip him off and it will be a reason for Lakia and him to fight Glotta and have more development, maybe Hanto will convince him that revenge isn't always worth it and we might get a sob story from her. Who knows.

Kind of reminds me of Ryuki.
I like it. Not my favorite suit, but I like it.
Gavv has just had really solid suits so far - the monsters and stomach inc family especially are fantastic.
I kind of wish they had different a sword for it, or even the chip ones repurposed a bit. Dual wielding them like Gaim could have been cool too, but what they chose isn't awful either

Wish Hanto had gotten more focus in the first half and that the conclusion had been a tad bit more emotional, especially since this is probably the last big development Hanto's character arc is gonna get.

Under other circumstances I would commend the show for having the balls to kill a redeemed monster, but here it feels more like an excuse to punish the Wolf Granute for having done evil acts at some point in his life without making Hanto look bad. I know it's also to reveal Glotta was indeed Comel's murderer, but the way that storyline has been handled isn't very good and Glotta's such a wasted character I don't really care about her or what she does. It also makes Hanto's big decision at the end feel pointless because Kenji was still taken away from the kid and the sweets shop will also be screwed as well if they don't address this matter later on.

I guess it looking like it does is supposed to represent how broken and unhinged Jeebh is, but most of the fight was just him flailing around and not being very effective aside from making Lakia job. Tearing off some of the fries and nailing Shoma to a wall was a neat move and reminded me of when that happened to Kuuga, albeit less violent.

Their president doesn't have the power to make the cartel legal, still keeps his ties to it a secret as far as we know and has detractors he feels the need to convince, so no, he can't do everything he wants and would probably get shunned by the public if his criminal activities came to light.

We both know this is going to end with Bocca getting screwed over and killed anyways, so cooking up imaginary scenarios to pretend the heroes won't end up taking down Stomach Inc. in order to justify the poor plot progression is pointless.

Proving that was Magen would involve outing the shady experiments they're doing at the cartel, and most Granutes aren't aware that the human world even exists, so what is it and what was he doing there? All stuff that is more convenient for the villains to keep a secret.

I liked the drama between the wolf and Hanto, but Glotta killing him invalidates the entire reason why letting him live was so hard for him to do. To let someone who took away his happiness get away with it because it meant someone else was happy because of him. But now that Glotta killed him, the lesson is muddled. Its like "dont get revenge because someone else will kill them eventually" which is retarded. Hanto doesn't dirty his hands but someone else finished him off. Thats fucking stupid and kinda invalidates the whole story, I would have easily cut that from the episode entirely.
Also, while I do think Jeebh is the better of the Stomachs, his schizo adventures have less weight when I can't describe him as a character outside of his obsession with his twin. And he's such a weakling that he might as well have died this episode, he's just a dead man walking by this point.

I think you're taking the idea too literally

If someone fucked with you in real life and you decided to not to pursue them out of revenge, it's not like that person is going to live a scot-free life. Even if Lago made amends in some way, his past was going to catch up to him eventually. It would be like if a human trafficker felt bad about it and turned their life around. It doesn't matter if they reformed, they made a lot of enemies that'll want them dead

I think the idea is less "Don't get revenge" and it's more "Don't ruin your life over someone who ruined theirs". In real life if you made peace with someone who hurt you, whatever happens to them after that isn't really going to be in your mind anymore

But Hanto wasn't going to ruin his own life by killing the dude, he spared him to not ruin the family's life. But the family still lost him right afterwards, making Hanto's decision to spare his life feel pointless.

Hanto doesn't know, but the audience, the ones who are supposed to be getting some sort of message out of this, do know that his decision to protect the family ended up being pointless. Hell, him not finding out would make it even worse, since he's a hero making sacrifices to protect others.

I mean why would us knowing he was killed matter to the message? The important part is that Hanto didn't do it because he didn't want to inflict the same pain on someone else. It also ties back in Shouma whole line to Granutes giving them a chance if they stop with Dark Treats. Glotta killing doesn't take away from his decision.

Are you genuinely retarded?
>The important part is that Hanto didn't do it because he didn't want to inflict the same pain on someone else
>Glotta killing doesn't take away from his decision
It takes away from the message because they're showing us that his personal sacrifice was for naught, the dude he just spared got offed anyways and the family he did this for still got fucked over right after, it feels mean-spirited. Hanto didn't even really forgive the man, he did this for the sake of the family.

If this is meant to showcase some kind of deserved "karma" thing for the Granute it's also fucked up because the show also claims it's wrong to think Comel deserved to get killed for his actions despite his redemption.
