Build a mecha or vehicle that uses long-range heavy-weapons such as Cannons, Missiles/Rockets, Railguns, or any other type of siege weaponry. Some clarifying rules

You should use lacquer paints and maybe seal them between layers with clear coats. Water based paints are only really good for hand painting small details.

I was gonna have my custom Varguil finished two weeks ago
but then I ran out of meds and had to go get bloodwork to be reapproved for the next round, but UH OH SOME SUBHUMAN PENCIL PUSHER IS TAKING HIS SWEET ASS TIME APPROVING IT so I ran out and my skin immediately exploded (the meds were for extreme chronic widespread dermatitis, as in eczema that just goes apeshit without any particular reason) and I've just been trying not to get Luigipilled for the past week or so

Working on my first kitbash soon, I took a two year break from the hobby due to life stuff and busted my HG Cybaster out the backlog as a getting back in the swing of things kinda thing and... christ im rusty. I keep seeing those but haven't used them yet. I like using Mr. Hobby and Tamiya lacquers. Mr. Hobby feel better than Tamiya's, I feel you can thin them further than Tamiya's but it's nice to pop into the local model shop and grab some of the Tamiya lacuqers if they do colours I want to use.

Normally windex is the best go to for thinning those things at least that is what people in older modeling communities have been using and it works well lot better in an airbrush then water, water is really only good for thinning stuff that ur brushing on

Gaianotes and Mr. Hobby for most things. I like Born paint's metallics and clear colors, but their topcoat is urethane and kind of fragile.

I really want to finally start airbrushing. I can't paint outside in warm weather from the horrible humidity.
I can't find a consensus on setting up a spray booth, prebuilts seem overpriced and weak and nobody can agree on DIY setups, whether the CFM is enough, if the fan's going to explode from lacquer etc.

Is there a good tutorial on building a booth from scratch that won't be a health and safety hazard? I've been eyeing 290CFM blowers online.

It's hard to go wrong with any high grade. Older master grades are also great for novices. Master grade gundam 2.0 is my recommendation.

In general, as a newbie to Gunpla you can't go wrong with HG kits. They're cheap, easy to build, readily available and very accepting of improvements. If/when you decide to get into painting your kits, HG kits provide good practice for improving your skills, and if you mess up then at least you didn't do it to an expensive kit; and on the flip side, if you decide that you don't want to partake in the hobby anymore then at least you didn't spend a lot of money on it.

One of the things you'll eventually have to square yourself with about this franchise: you don't have to buy kits only from the shows that you've watched and only from the shows that you liked. It's perfectly okay to buy the kits because you like how cool the robot looks, though it is true that you will appreciate the plastic toy more after seeing it in action in animation. RG and MG Sazabi are very good kits, though maybe you'll want some more experience building Gunpla before diving in because they can be pretty complex.

Planning out panel lines for the RE/100 Nightingale. I'm going to separate the "wings" into three sections and give them some articulation. I'll try to add more detail or outright replace the mechanical bits under the wings while I'm at it. It that goes well I'll do the same for the giant ass armor.

Most people buy third party waterslide sheets for several reasons.

1. Bandai waterslides tend to suck, to the point where even dollar express Chinesium knockoffs that you find on AliExpress are better.

2. Virtually all RG and MG kits have third party waterslides to replace the Bandai stickers, dry decals and waterslides (again, Bandai ones tend to suck, so even if you have a full sheet that comes with a Ver. Ka kit, a 1:1 copy from Delpi or G-Rework is still better). There are even a few cases where popular HG kits (Kshatriya, Destiny Spec II, Rising Freedom, Aerial) will have custom waterslides done for them.

The thing with buying your own blank waterslide sheets is that you need the right kind of printer and the right kind of decal paper that's compatible with said printer. Most blank waterslide sheets are made for putting onto things like coffee mugs and the like, and can be so thick that they stick out like a sore thumb on a Gunpla kit even after softening. There's also the fact that only specialized printers can print white, so if you want white markings to put onto dark pieces then you're likely out of luck.

No they absolutely are not. I've actually used both and the cheap chinese ones are bordering on unusable. They're often slightly transparent because of how thin they are and need trimmed because they arent separated decals on the sheet. Those are basically legos, how can you be this exhausted. That being said, it'll get much easier after first few kits when you find your rhythm. But you will have a real uphill battle with tiny RG parts if you struggle even with HG stickers

Hyper industrial details, uneven fleshy curves and so on. Toys are pre made, prepainted and you get entertainment from the finished product. Models are barebones, half assed and you get entertainment from turning a literall piece of shit into something you personally like. Topcoat + Panel Line is a combo for pussies, when you don't want to fuck over your model like an abusive father.

All it seems to have going for it is that it combines the two original kits with some updated parts from another kit and it can transform. You can't really pose it and it has to be mounted on a base since it can't stand on its own.
