I think it's the lighting in the stills of the 3D models. It looks... odd. And as the result the whole design feels off when in the show and even in the pictures of the HG it looks much better.

I hated the use of 3D models in the eva rebuilds (and the movies themselves) so I was really worried about GQuuuuuux but Khara mostly pulled it off.
A couple shots here and there that look bad but for the most part I am not as bothered by the 3D as I should be.
It also help that I really like the GQuack and GFred, they look silly in the best way possible.

I don't need a happy ending in the sense of a fairy tail "and they lived happily ever after" but I would really hate a tragic ending at this point.

No leaks so far, but I will guess that Machu and Nyaan will kill Shuji in this episode, where his Newtype ghost will try to tell the girls to live their life as they chose. Nyaan continues attacking Machu, and in the end, the two stab their beam sabers in each other's cockpits, killing them, but disabling the GFreD. No ending theme, and the final episode will tease Char piloting the GQuuuuuuX to perform one final Zeknova to end the war completely. If this is fanfic level, you might be right, but with how truncated the story is, there's no question it will end this way.

I honestly think this might the worst gundam show.
The story was way too big for 12 eps, having to contain it this much just outright ruined characters and the story. And they wasted what little time they had on memberberries. The time jannie shit was the last straw for me.
The love story and romantic triangle were terrible. Even the mechs are overdesigned mess, with GFred being one of the uglies mechs I've ever seen.
At least other bad shows had the dignity to fail on their own merits without dragging in classic characters.

Bayond the time made sense considering this was almost an inversion of CCA with Char being the one making things right this time.

We don't have Amuro in GQuuuuuuX. Good explanation is that he could have either died with the rest of Side 7 during Zeon's attack, created Haro, or just simply was a variable that did not exist while Tem Ray did. This might be the only timeline where Amuro doesn't exist, which could explain why Zeon even won in the first place, and in terms taken from the Fate franchise, became a Lostbelt in comparison to every other timeline where Lalah survives, but loses Char and gets heartbroken, or dies saving the man she loves.

Machu's and Nyann "parallel arcs" following the departure from side-6 were compelling.

And their interactions in this episode were interesting, even if they get a bit overlooked with all the craziness going on around.
I really liked Nyaan's scene with Kycilia, the cliché thing would have been to have her obey Kycilia even though she's doubting her so she can fight Machu again, I'm really glad they didn't do that.
Machu is being proactive in the plot without having killed or even wanting to kill anyone. And I really like that about her character. Having her toss her rifle to grab the "cat-hear module" and chuck it at Nyann was pretty cool.

Tsurumaki could pull off a resolution for both aspects. He's shown many times that he can work a lot of 'stuff' into short running times. If he does, I'll eat my words, but I really don't see *how* he could.

On a different note. Can anyone recommend a neat /m/ show or manga with a magical girl aspect?

While it's fun and cool and hype to see Challia Bull kicking ass in the unreleased Kikeroga, and to have the Zabis (tm) fucking each other over, and to have THE OG show up, it's a shame that it's taken over what was a promising new cast of characters who are basically just as much bewildered bystanders as we are.

I actually liked the fight scene with Machu and Nyaan; the former has barely fought at all so I forgot what the GQuuuuuuX could actually do.

That's a great way to put it!

Unfortunately it was probably always going to end like this, the starting point of the show was Char getting "the red gundam" and disapearing, Khara were never going to be brave enough to let that be a background element.
Especially when Shuuji was piloting the red gundam!

It's still possible that the final episode will 'blow it's load' in the first half then take its time to bookend Amate's and Nyaan's plot. But I don't think that's likely and at this point, I think its better for the show to get even crazier than it would be to show restraint.
At least in term of making the show memorable.

I really hope they don't kill Machu or Nyaan so we can hope for a sequel or some side material at least.
