It's a shame really, it's like Anno decided to give Machu some volume down here "points at crotch" by making giving her sexual tension with every male character she gets within 5 meters of, but failed to grasp what exactly Tomino meant by such details. She isn't a nigh asexual brick which is a good start but how her infatuations reflect on her relations to other characters and how her taste in men reflects on her own character had no thought put into them. we never see Haman Karn's mother in any of the extended material although we have seen her father, Maharaja Karn. We haven't seen Machu's father at all either, although we do know that he's a diplomat, presumably to either Side 3 or Earth, which explains why he's not on Side 6 in his daughter's life at all.
