Are there any other examples of 'mecha horror' IE how absolutely fucking horrifying mecha are to fight or even just be around as a civilian with no mecha?

So far the only thing I can think of is Forever Winter

I tried the demo of this game and it ran like shit and had such jank controls they must really be spending a lot for it be shilled for years when it is a literal nothing burger.

there is tons of existing media about civilians subjected to the horrors of war, just usually not with mecha, and really, would mecha truly be that scary compared to the absolute horror of real wars?
>the noise of artillery or rockets overhead 24 hours a day, unsure if you will be the target, or just someone along the way
>seeing drones in the sky and not knowing whose they are or what they are doing, only that you should run
>needing to still go to work to feed your family, but knowing that you need to avoid certain streets that are within view of the soldiers' watchtowers
>anti personnel mines dispersed by aircraft or artillery that remain dangerous for decades, so even after the war is a distant memory kids will get their legs blown off

Forever winter's true horror is that game devs will hire interesting artists and then tell us they're making bootleg tarkov.

There being like 4 different "this upcoming game's dark world... broke me..." essaytuber videos before the game was even playable by the public was fucking rank.

The Matrix is the first one that comes to mind, the Machines are fucking terrifying. Animatrix illustrates this perfectly.

Then there's also the Terminator franchise

There is some horror parts of the game unless you want to be a monster that keeps destroying buildings.

it could work in VR for a short while the problem is that you don't feel any feedback so after the initial primal fear of a giant fucking metal boot stomping on you a few too many times it would go stale.

How come its never explained how stuffing a bunch of people in them magically allows it to bypass the gel limits.
People somehow act as a liver?

Brigador's first mission has you blasting a crowd of civilians with a 105mm and that very much sets the tone for the rest of the game.

There's always warhammer I guess, the mechs in that usually involve some body horror.

I forget, wasn't there an achievement for completing that first mission without killing any yellow raincoats?

There is but you have to go out of your way to get it. There's never an explicit "press X to commit war crimes" moment, just a lot of moments where driving through a refugee camp is easier than driving around it.

Don't think I saw anyone else post this but my mind immediately went here. Pic semi-related.

There's also the scene from the start of Gundam 00 of Ali's insurgents getting slaughtered by Anf mobile suits.

the trick is to do what subnautica does
have the big scary thing be avoidable but kind of in the way, so you don't actually get killed by it (which removes the tension once it happens) but feel like you're at risk
e.g. you have to cross a large open area with a mech patrolling, but you have no motivation to fight it
