Which is stupid, because she's not a literal princess. Zeon Deikun was an elected politician, not the king of Side 3. Sayla and Casval aren't heirs to anything. It was the Zabis who started the hereditary nobility larp. Char became a leader of Zeon and being Zeon Deikun's son obviously helped him, but he was also politically ambitious, ideologically driven, and a Zeon war hero. Sayla was none of those things.

The story line that was never shown but was actually needed was what Chalia was actually up to in the background since it's only in like the last ep that revealed he was rooting for Sayla all along. Would make more sense if turned out Chali and Sayla was running some rebellion against the Zabi, so when they were gone, the grass root resistance pushed for her to be the leader.
