It's part of the tragedy of Newtypes that Kycilia awakened as a Newtype, recognized the signals, but never understood it and nobody cared, she died to Char because she tried to murder Char when he didn't give a shit about her anymore. If someone had told her "You can see the kira-kira? Then that means you're a Newtype." maybe things would've changed.
