Hello everyone. I MTL'd the first chapter. I'm in the air about whether or not to keep going, but I want to post what I've done at least. I only have access to raws up to volume 11, so best case scenario that's as far as I'd get anyway.

So this is the beginning of what later turns into Gundam Build Fighters. I cant say Im impressed with little kids playing war games while cosplaying as MS pilots. It feels weird when you watched the original and have its tone and themes in mind, you could almost mistake it for a mockery.

I really don't care about machine translations too much.
In my day hk bootleg subs were IT for tons of shows.
this comic has had raws common online for over a decade, I recall flipping them to mediafire that's how long ago I've seen them
in all that time there hasnt been any great effort to really translate it
iirc it's every bit the poogyman comic in terms of basic bitch writing
some stuff really doesn't need more than a basic "better than crabstick" passthrough

I'm enjoying it. I like the focus on plastic models themselves, even build fighters felt like it was usually more about gundam itself than model kits as a hobby, especially after the first season.
I don't think people want to admit that mtl is getting decent enough for stuff like this. It's not like it's worse than when the only guy doing something is putting in his own jokes and writing in annoying tl notes. Or is doing the famous japanese-chinese-english translation. I've read plenty of translations that were way worse than modern mtl is, so it feels increasingly kind of pointless to get worked up over it as a concept.

Your kind words (and tomorrow being a late shift so I have some free time tonight) have given me the strength to get another chapter done. We're halfway done with the first volume, but this chapter will get us close to the image limit. Might hold off on making a new thread until I have more done. Let me know what you guys think, I'm only posting these here and on Mangadex so you're most of the audience. Also, sorry about the first few pages looking shitty, I couldn't settle on a good way to have black text on a gray image.

it's funny, in one of the next chapters in volume one there's a handwritten note visible with bad handwriting, some of those fonts probably would have made it look a little nicer. i don't think i'm going to spend too much time fixing up stuff i've already done though, i'd rather use that time getting further into the series

I tried doing some stuff with other fonts starting in volume 2, I think it looks pretty good but I'll wait to hear your guys' opinions. Really itching to dump the rest of chapter one, should easily fit all into one thread. They're on mangadex if you're itching to read them now but personally I think it's more fun posting them here.

Oh hey someone mentioned an MTL was being done for this. I'm the dude who's been doing Gundam Boy and I was considering picking Kyoshiro up next when I'm done with that, but that's also a year away since Gundam Boy has like 12 goddamn volumes (and depending on how burned out I feel).

hello everyone, OP here. i've been handling some pretty dire life stuff for the past week so i've only just started up again. i also stopped right at a chapter that is for some ungodly reason 150 pages. there's another chapter like that in volume 4 and that's it for chapters that big
