Back in Gotchard there was a scene where a guy was forced to relive his parents deaths over and over again until he turned into a mindless monster who attacks his own friends. Later on Hotaro is forced to kill his best friend. Later on a child dies and her sisters get killed one by one by their creator. Also Daybreak Gotchard is from a future where almost everyone he ever loved died and he lost his eye.
Gotchard also had "creepy shit", just like Geats and Revice did. It’s just part of the series. If you want some real heinous shit then watch the early 2000s kamen rider series, which go way harder than that.

Not really. They've had their "dark moments" like characters dying in a flashback, or mindbreaks here and there, but nothing that was close to Showa level.
Revice TTFC special had people kidnapped and experimented on, but it was off-screen and not in the main series.
Geats almost had something with Ace's mom's plot, but the plot didn't bother to explore it after the reveal and just moved on to the next thing.

If Gavv is a money saving season then what was Geats? Poverty? Outside of reusing Bitter which seems to be one "reusable suit" per show now, it has way more production value from the toys to locations, action scenes and general CG. Not that it always translates to quality, but it looks noticeably better and more high effort than Geats with the cheap buckles and reusing parts or Gotchard with the single size suits and cheap cards printed.
I think this is just the future for the shows.

Hard disagree. Revice wasn't that long ago and trying to make sense of anything there was horrible, not to mention the overuse of CGI attacks covering the screen. I meant more in terms of being creative with the shots and locations and interacting with the environment, as well as the visual quality of the CG itself.
So far there wasn't anything as bad as some of the Gotchard episodes with the CG-only chemies. This recent fight with the katakana flying at him was also very well done. Again, doesn't always imply good quality, but they have been mostly good quality compared to what we usually get. But now that I'm typing this, I believe that's the merit of the early filming and longer post-production instead.

Hideaki Anno's Shin Kamen Rider is written as シン・仮面ライダー. Despite what the other anon said, シン doesn't mean anything at all. It's just the word "Shin," which COULD mean 真, but it could also mean 新 (New), 心 (Heart), 進 (Progress), 身 (One's station in life), 神 (God), 深 (Intensified), 清 (Pure), 伸 (Expand/Increase), and so many other things. This open-endedness is very intentional as it's used for Shin Goji, Ultra, and Eva as well.

The cards initially did well because they were randomized and had legendary Riders, so even if you didn't care about the Chemies, it was tempting to at least hunt for the cards of Kamen Riders you like. Gotchard had an anniversary element to rely on. But as you said, the actual KR toy sales *not the cards* and the reception of both MCs likely didn't encourage Toei and Bandai to keep milking Gotchard past its finale.

I remember how last year, anons kept complaining about Bandai milking a lot Geats premium releases, and re-releases. Now, Gotchard ironically suffers the opposite problem.

Let's be honest, you cannot blame Kajiki, Sabimaru, Spanner, Geryon, Kyoka, and the Dark sisters for the leads being bad at acting and dragging the show down. If Zeztz ends up being bad, even if it does sell well, it will most likely have him demoted. But it luckily seems that he should be able to understand now that he's a producer that can have actual creative input this time.

Would you guys recommend watching Dragon Knight? I heard through the grapevine that it actually has some pretty good ideas and makes more use out of the mirror world mechanic than Ryuki actually does.

I've enjoyed how throughout the entire show, by design, the AKA GAVV has and still is completely unique to Shouma. It's also a weird thing to think that every single piece of Rider tech in the show originates from him in some way.

Shared-belt shows have their own charm, but it's nice when the center-piece henshin is special to the protagonist sometimes.

We never really saw his body afterwards and even Shouma felt something was off. Lango is also just really that powerful, dude had maxed out strength, defence, and magic hax. Even Shouma still had to use both abilities Master and Over just to beat him and Nyelv knew to be concerned about the Riders when Lango was beat. I'm genuinely not surprised he made it out alive, especially after seeing Jiip survive despite being beyond outclassed by Gavv.

Basically due to the "you aren't supposed to know about trinity" but we were hardly getting leaks starting since Saber so we knew next to nothing about Geats.
