This game must be an absolute slog on a no upgrade run, at least Perfectio doesn't have HP Regen.

Had fun, Proto Garland kicks ass, and I think the issues with making units tanky people have described over the years was greatly exaggerated. Every super robot except plain old Mazinger has some kind of special defense and most mooks are only scary if they get up in your face, across the whole game enemy ranged moves have shit accuracy or low power, so you can literally bodyblock them from getting to anyone actually vulnerable.
I was even able to get Godmars to dodge shit by the end although it wasn't as easy as in Z.

D actually requiring you to invest into defenses instead of just being functionally invincible once Prevail starts kicking in is enough to send many players into a tizzy. Really, once you get Basara/Mylene and start bouncing songs like crazy the game's pretty much over. That's why the only remotely difficult part during the endgame is the Gishin split and the 2nd half of Crisis Point with the timelimit.

I went full glass cannon on a few characters and it wasn't really an issue. Even when I started actually ending turns in Getter 1 with Ryoma having nothing but points in Hit and Melee you could cover his ass with support defends or guards, and D's AI is allergic to focus firing unless there's only one option in range to hit.
I did make Fa fucking invincible in an unupgraded White Ark though, all points in Skill and Defense and stacked all its part slots with leftover Super Alloy Z's.

The average endgame mook have 3k+ power attacks in a game where you're lucky to have more than 1100 base armor. I wouldn't use "weak" to describe enemies, especially since they actually do get stronger on NG+ if you keep using the same file over and over again.
If you're using spirits like Alert/Persist/Guard and/or the Sound Force then yeah its not a problem. But that's basically everything in that game.

And even if the base armor isn't great you can still get it to a reasonable point on upgrades and from parts without needing to go all in, enough to not get wrecked by stray chain hits at least. Almost everyone has a shield too.
Mostly it was a lot of Confuse spam since you get like 15 turns worth of casts in any given deployment setup by the end unless you refuse to use any multi-seaters.

Pretty sure Garland got shot down more than anyone else on stray 1% hit chances.

I just remember a Belgrande S hit a fully upgraded Wing Zero with its mace and just fucking killed it once.

From a first glance Wing was just flatout worse than Heavyarms, again, and Sandrock was pretty tanky I was mostly draggin Quatre around for Bless but I used him to support defend a lot. I'm not even going to talk about some sort of meme deathball that people use, a basic support attack setup can easily end up with the unit in the middle eating multiple chain attacks if you aren't careful.

Upgrades are percentage based and not flat values. Even the "bulky" units are looking at just ~1500 armor with 5 bars into armor compared to many other games where 1500 armor is the baseline with enemies of comparable strength.
That's right, a Super Alloy New Z is pretty much better than what most units will get out of raw upgrades for their bulk.

Now we're talking. That's how you really get the job done as a hard tank against most things. Which means that you're expected to raise skill or use the sound force to do it for you.

I really only went for Full Armor ZZ and V2AB.
I was planning on getting Katejina and Chronicle since I was on that route anyways but shooting down Chronicle got another large magazine part so I did what needed to be done.

It's SRW original set up for the OVA, since Shion is Show's reincarnation alongside most other OVA characters being reincarnations of the tv series cast.

In SRW X, it's not completely confirmed, but they're expecting once they get to Byston Well their souls will continue the cycle that should have started when they died on Earth.

In the original anime continuity, they just die on Earth and then reincarnate in Byston Well 700 years for the OVA's plot, with nothing in between as far as we know.

April 2018, yeah. It was during the 10th Anniversary Script Reading. It's where we get some additional lore too in that Graham was apparently an orphan during his childhood.

Basically, Graham's floating in space after his big sacrifice but Setsuna makes it in time for him not to go completely dead (he was pretty close though) and since there was a bunch of stray ELS hanging around, they merged with Graham and brought him back to life just enough that Setsuna and the ELS can fix him.

It's even arguable if it's all of Graham or just what Setsuna knows since he's a ELS/Human hybrid at this point. It's why Graham's post Trailblazer/Revision design has that big silver streak across his hair and where his scar used to be.

The panel lines are unnecessary, but that isn't what greebles are, at all. Greebles are tiny bumps and detailing across a model to imply higher complication, usually to indicate scale.
