I've finished KimiNozu NEXT and I'm really disappointed after how the original anime went. Haruka is supposed to get her route animated but it spends 1 episode on the whore, another on Akane, and halfassedly wraps it up in episode 4. Haruka deserved better. But after watching the series and Akane Maniax it's clear that the creators of the series loved Akane who had a massive presence in both seasons.

Next goal is finishing a play through of Muv Luv and seeing where this takes me. I've really enjoyed the overall franchise so far in terms of anime. I just wish Takeru's lines were voiced to make it easier to read in Japanese.

I said it the other thread but Muv-Luv is literally Love Hina x Blue Gender. These two were even popular back when age was just starting with VNs and Muv-Luv was supposed to come out right after KimiNozu in 2001 but got postponed to 2002, and then to 2003, and Alternative was supposed to be in the same game but that also got postponed 3 years.

As for KimiNozo... Macross is a great influence, Hayase is even named after Hayase. I think Jetman also.

But in the game/manga/anime, Sakaki Korechika DIDN'T hand over power to the Shogunate, violating this order. It turns out that he usurped power. (It's funny that no one in the Yokohama Base was even concerned with this problem).

So, Sagiri and Co. stated the pure truth about the infringement of the Shogun's power by the Korechika government and took conditionally justified actions for a counter-coup. The fact that neither the cadet squad nor the Valkyries think about the meaning of what is happening at all, but only "loftily reflect" on the inappropriateness of a crisis among people in front of BETA and are "upset" that the rebels do not understand this, frankly, is a little shocking, in a bad way. 1) IRL, the author can't stand the USSR/Russia (clearly confirmed by the nonsense he spewed out in TE) and the very idea that the Soviets/Russians could somehow "help" Japan makes him gag (the Soviet forces did not participate in the attack on Sadogashima, although logically they were interested in eliminating the threat to their southern flank and additional troops from another direction were a good help against the notorious unpredictability of BETA).

2) IML, given the events of TE, could be busy restructuring and restoring part of its forces after the incident in Kamchatka, as well as solving the problems of the political crisis after the release of information about the "Red Shift". On the other hand, the December incident was short-lived and there might not have been enough time for the USSR to intervene in this mess. In the case of Sado Island, there is nothing to explain why the Soviets would not want to conduct field tests of their new developments and doctrines in an allied operation - in addition to the lower risk of losses, the Russians would have received fairly objective information about the capabilities of their psi-technologies and TSF updates, and at the same time would have shown the UN forces their coolness...
