I think it should've been either more episodic or more serialized than the weird in-between it is. Big plot points and elements that feel like they deserve an extended dedicated storyline get wrapped up in underwhelming 2-parters like Chocold, Glotta/Comel's stuff and Suga's two moments as an active threat.

This is a really rough preview. I was already feeling down on the rumored story but the suit looks really bad here, I hope it looks better in motion. Both suffered greatly in their first quarters. Even though Drive had solid characters from beginning to end, for the first half of the show the Roidmudes are among the worst motw of this franchise, almost as bad as the phantoms which really dragged the show down, didn't help that the villain generals weren't that active in the first quarter. But even after that Go ends up being kind of unlikable for most of the show's middle.
Due to Covid Saber had to abandon their original idea in favor of something more generic, while they were able to execute the idea really well in the end it made it feel less ambitious than other seasons. Covid also screwed the scheduling for the first quarter, which made it the second worst first quarter in the whole franchise, only being beaten by Gotchard. They weren't able to fit every necessary scene having it to put it on a mini-series instead, leading to the first quarter feeling incomplete and rushed, with the only good things being the action whenever it wasn't CGI and the extremely well-done slice of life scenes. The show massively improves from the second quarter onward, but you still have things like the hectic pacing when Falchion returns, the Shindai brothers' development being moved to crossoverd and spin-offs and Storious' actor doing that stupid voice in the final arc.
Both Drive and Saber are great but not Top-Tier. Even though Kabuto is a mess, specially in the second half where the actors for Daisuke and Hiyori had scheduling conflicts, Ex-Aid's second half has a drop in quality and Gavv's Q2 is really draggy while the villains of that show aren't that interesting, their low-points aren't as bad as Drive's nor Saber's and still have plenty of enjoyment factor during their "bad periods". Every show I listed are the ones that usually are considered to be mostly consistently fun from start to finish.
