>As for Crystal, I know some people didn't like its artstyle but what else did people not like.
Are you a newbie? because i think you weren't even there when Crystal got greenlight back in 2012, people were literally happy and expecting to see how Takeuchi's artstyle would looked like in anime form, heck, back in the old sailormoon days there were some more manga accurate designs done as promo material for the show, pic related, people did had hopes for it.
Only to be jerked off for 2 years by Toei, and how ugly and derpy the artstyle ended up being, and that's not even counting the ugly rushed animation hackjob, because Toei literally greenlight the remake just to gatekeep the rights away from other companies who were interested in working with the IP, like really, that was the whole reason the show looked like trash when it came out, they literally didn't cared for it in the slightest, and this was when Toei bring out the curse of ''even the fixed version still sucks'' because people were doing edits of the originals that looked FAR better then both (same for Dragonball Super), they didnt even released the episodes weekly, and there was a gap between S2 and S3, and the last arcs were released in ''movies'', (aka, short 4 episode seasons spliced together) because Toei just killed any interest and momentum it could had.
The old anime had its quirks and flaws, the people who worked on it did the Goldfish Warning anime prior and it was basically the prototype, but for better or worse, It was the zeitgeist of the franchise.
So yeah, people had legit reasons to be pissed off at Crystal, and back to Rayearth, it would been much better if this was a reunion sequel instead of a remake.
