Hope they're alright.

I haven't quite finished it yet, but so far J-Decker has just completely mogged GaoGaiGar for me. The show sticking to monster of the week with the occasional overarching story for 3 - 5 episodes is working so much better for me than the last half of GGG. Something just stopped clicking at the halfway point and I can't quite figure out what.

That could be it too, outside of Volfogg and the earlier episodes with the Ryuu twins the robots personalities never really jumped out at me. I'm not sure if my mental image of Goldymarg comes from the show or SRW, but the chinese Ryuus and the girl Ryuus from Final are kinda blank slates in my mind. I know they showed SOME kind of personality trait but they just never stuck after the show ends.

Anyways, J-Decker is a very charming show, and the relationship between Yuuta and Deckerd is what every other show with a kid and a robot wishes it had.
It's interesting that you don't like the second half of GaoGaiGar as much as the first, since that's when a lot of people seem to think it hits its stride. I think the show gets somewhat mired in the amount of stock footage they use, and like >>23376468 says, the Ryus other than the first two don't get a ton of development.
I think a show with the personalities from J-Decker, the flashiness of GGG, and the focus on storytelling that Da-Garn has would hit a sweet spot.

What's your one compliment to J-Decker's final form?

Was it ok I might have skipped like the first half of Gaogaigar in 2006? I don't remember much of it. I remember DESIRE and Hell and Heaven fucking guy up. That's about it. And Goldymarg being disobedient in like episode 21. But I'm scared I just watched a few youtube clips of that. Looking at this, I honestly think they should do a homage-style commercial for the Toyrise GaoGaiGar once it's revealed in full. Hello yuushabros. /tv/isitor here. I'm a big fan of mecha and I'm in the mood for something I haven't seen before. The only Brave show I've watched so far was, you guessed it, Gaogaigar, and I like it a lot. In fact, Final is one of my favorite OVAs of all time. Which Brave show should I watch next? Should I just start Exkaiser and go release order? I really enjoy the more outlandish and over the top concepts, space battles, the more "big picture" stuff. I'm also a big fan of mecha animals and feminine mecha. Please recommend which one I should watch next based on this information. Thank you.

Da-Garn if you want a more "serialized" story. J-Decker if you want a human and robot series. Fighbird if you want a protagonist who can be both cool and comedic. Goldran for wacky/over the top hijinks. Dagwon if you're a Tokusatsu fan and Might Gaine you want a "Adam West styled Batman" as a mecha series.
