As someone with 0 prior gundam experience, GQuuuuuux seemed confused about who it was for. It released on a major streaming service worldwide with day one english dubs that were honestly pretty good, and it tried to tell a kind of story with themes a lot of people can relate to, and recap movies to summarize the original series for anyone who hadn't seen it. On the other hand, those movies weren't released on the same streaming service... were they released at all outside of Japan? It doesn't explain the events of MSG1979 all that well, and the series ending with the white gundam seemed to be catering towards long time fans. I think too much of the show got cut when it was forced into only 12 episodes... the "kira-kira" is not properly explained until very late in the series, which it then turns out was not a long time Gundam concept like I thought it was. It doesn't explain "Minovsky particles" either but to my surprise, MSG1979 also doesn't do this, at least not in the first 6 episodes.

>who is it for?
YOU. THE GENERAL AUDIENCE
>amazon prime
They are trying to reach anyone interested in gundam, who hasn't yet fully plunged into 3 aus and watched the entire uc. They want the 18 year old anime fan, who knows of gundam, but hasn't watched a whole series
>they recap 0079 but don't tell you about 0079
Except they do! Thats the point of the char episodes
>0079 movie
The 0079 movie is too old to be expected to watch. Its like disney asking you to watch the complete star wars saga prior to watching the sequels. No one except long time fans will do that.
>cut down
I don't believe any part of gqux was cut. Because of clan battle we know every episode lasted roughly a week, and 4 opponents at 4-0 is what you would need to win a 16 person single elimination tournament. Thats roughly the ammount of teams in clan battle.
>they didn't explain
Because most of the stuff like lalah, kira kira, and minovsky particles are meant to be vague and interpreted by the viewer

Also, all kira kira means is sparkle in japanese. Its not a specific gundam thing. Its about lalahs newtype magic.

Genuine question for Yurifans, although I believe there are no real Yurifans here but just impostors who want to troll.

I know yuri fans are terrified of any male character on the show because they're a potential threat to the main lesbian romance, but what's their attitude toward a show that explicitly features both heterosexual and yuri romance?

Gundam has to serve a broad audience, so would Witch from Mercury have been equally accepted if the show had featured more war, action, mecha, and political intrigue, with yuri as a secondary subplot? Furthermore, if there had been a heterosexual main romance like Gquuux and a yuri sub-romance with an explicit kiss, would it still be certified Yuri?

I'm just curious to understand how it works.

Theres not even a suggestion until the end they are in a relationship and suletta pursues a man shes interested in.

It's cool and okay, but that's not what I asked. it's a more general discussion for next shows. If Bandai wants to add yuri subplots in the future to keep those fans hooked on G.witch, can this work if the main romance is hetero? Or will these people go crazy if the show isn't built around them at all?

I'm not really the right sort of person to answer your questions because yuri makes me feel sad, but the yuri tones of the first episode of GQx came across like a bait and switch to hook weebs in, and I think it worked. Lesbianism has always been the model minority of the LGBT among male audiences and it's only become more accepted with the rise of vtubers, so I expect Bandai will continue to have yuri subtones and teases while avoiding full commitment to it as much as possible.

The reason for my question is: I saw an extreme shitstorm for G-witch and people literally freaked out every time a male character was near Suletta.

Now G-Witch has achieved its goal and we've moved on, but there were already people who were furious because GQuuux wasn't like G-witch. Is peaceful coexistence possible with this group, or should I expect people to explode every time two female characters are in the same room because of possible subtexts?

If G.Witch had maintained the premises of the prologue and dealt with the themes of that episode, I probably would have easily forgiven the Yuri part.

Gquacks has the same exact issue that AGE had in that it was flip flopping between wanting to appeal to both oldfags and newfags.

the thing about a lot of yurifags is that as straight men they are still attracted to gay women, and many of them have fantasies about being fucking a lesbian so hard she turns straight. If another man is involved, they are being cucked in their own minds; she is no longer pure. Anime can't show sex or out right affection, so it's assumed that if two characters are on screen together that they are fucking behind the scenes.

It's kind of interesting how a person's first Gundam kind of shapes what that person feels makes a good Gundam. The sad thing is that in the west it seems a lot of people's first Gundams are either Wing or WfM, neither of which I think are near the best in the franchise.
