Im glad they brought back mikus gear, those last few episodes, especially the final song felt like a celebration of the series, it was real nice, get to see everybody before the end.
Now, why doesnt this have a proper videogame yet. Literally just make a discount zoe 2 or armored core that lets you play as all 6, and have miku as dlc, easy money

My theory as to why mecha is most frequently done as strategy games is because mecha as action games usually end up being just a clunky third-person shooter or a Altarion and Grungusts aren't "too" different.
SRPGs cover this issue because in them you can make each unit operate exactly as intended to highlight their presentation. The only other genre that can really account for such wildly different skillsets is something like a musou which is probably why those are also a super common genre for licensed tie-ins.

The original SRW was a strategy game cause they wanted to include a lot of robots but they had limited space for sprites in a gameboy game, so instead of trying to animate things for an action game they went for a genre where things can be mostly static

That absolutely is the case but I think there's a reason why so many other mech games end up being SRPGs beyond just SRW being popular.
There are shooters that try to implement melee combat and hack and slash games that try to balance ranged weapons with the melee but usually they heavily lean towards one side. If you want a game to represent both Exia and Dynames faithfully to how they are used in their shows while both units are being used optimally, the far easier way to allow it is to make it turn-based.
And it applies even more to crossovers with really different mecha. Mazinger, Getter and Gundam being brought to a game faithfully would all naturally play completely differently if they weren't abstracted into an RPG.
