Nah, the rankups maxed out are a strict upgrade over the base weapon always by having better ammo counts, lower prana consumption and higher damage maxed.
Except on the SFC version where it can softlock you but no one's playing that version.

The main reason to not go through rankups is that stage where Gadess is an enemy, the Masouki recruits all being a revolving door of secret join requirements (so getting their rankups before part 2 can end up being an actual waste of money) and there being no proper NG+ carryover (you just get whatever you have at the time of clearing the game plus an extra million)

I'm pretty sure SFC is the one that most people in the west will play since that's the one with the translation.
Also, a lot of the rank ups in MK1 SFC at least actually do have higher MG and/or PN costs compared to the lower version. Not to mention that the upgrade scaling is jank so you end up spending more money to start off worse in many cases. Akashic Buster and Cross Smasher are some of the few examples of a rank up being generally superior.

It sounded more that the DLC stages themselves supposedly will have a stronger story- they even mention each pack will have an original final boss, rather than being like 30's where a lot of it felt like just excuses for the battles, with a lot of stages even repeating the same story points (like the groups dropping from portals, then one stage for each unit surrounded by enemies and rescued by your party and finally 2 stages per pack where you detect the portal location and then close it in the 2nd stage.

Can I just get the $60 version and use custom soundtrack on the Steam version? I want to play on the Deck and want the voiced soundtrack but I also don’t want to pay for the Ultimate edition when in SRW30 uses lossy soundtracks so I am assuming Y will use lossy as well.

I think one of the few exceptions is Ikue Otani as Pikachu. Aside from Generations, where it was Fumiko Orikasa. Though, I wonder if the Pokémon themselves are an exception to this since Smash Bros. uses the anime voice actors for them in all languages. Sort of like recent Digimon stuff have recasted the DigiDestined but kept the voice actors for the Digimon themselves, though Tri's English dub did get some of the DigiDestined's original actors back.

I cant find a picture of this but remember that fucking guy who three kaiju seeds everywhere in Dynazenon? That was never explained either. I doubt it will be now (I think a weird answer is implied in the movie) but they should connect it to another character from another series something or OG bad guy. Same with the Black Rodan. Who knows it was literally just a hand and that Rodan was there for a second they'll probably ignore it.

Masaki definitely feels like the number 1 OG guy nowadays. He has been in every SRW since X.

Depends on the series or staff. For example, Anno was directly involved with Eva's implementation in SRW, both the legal side and giving implementation ideas.

Mazinkaiser and Great Zeorymer also were created with direct participation of their original creators (Great Zeorymer was based on an unused sketch, but the coloring and finish touches were still by its original designer).

On the negative side of this, "Khara's staff" requested when implementing Eva Q in SRW they should avoid resolving the story since he wasn't sure how the movie story would be resolved yet (source for this is the Super Robot Net Radio Umasugi wave 789 according to the Japanese SRW wiki), which is why Q was unit-only in its two appearances so far.

Gurren Lagann's staff being involved with SRW resulted in a game original form for the Anti-Spiral back in Z2... but is also why they always kill Kamina and Kittan since the original creators wanted those deaths to be kept.

On the other hand, SRW messing around with SEED Destiny's plot in Z1 or doing pseudo-sequel plots in several later appearances happened without any involvement from director Fukuda at all (who talked on twitter about disliking changes to the story, so if he -were- involved they probably wouldn't have happened). SRW did their own take on following up Shin Mazinger's cliff hanger several times, but without any contribution from Imagawa either, which is why they just kind of ignore some ambiguous stuff like the Great Mazinger's pilot calling himself "Blade".
