Decade and Gokaired are equally matched in battle. Decade initially beats up the Go-Busters but they manage to counter and are standing ground when the battle is interrupted. Gokaired easily takes down Fourze. Decade easily goes through a complete Sentai team like Goseiger.
Random Riders like W and Kiva easily beat up random Sentai like Zyuranger and Dekaranger before Gokaired and Decade send them all to the other dimension right before the final battle (Heck, when Decade goes do their finisher on the Zyuranger and Dekaranger they're all lying on the ground just from fighting Kiva and W, you can also see in a shot before that W and KIva beating them up in the background).
Super Hero Taisen Z had KyoryuGold (debut) = Wizard (Dragon Forms) >> Kyoryured > Shadowmoon > Other Kyoryuger > GokaiRed > Other Riders = Space Sheriffs > Other Sentai
Yeah, even the Go-Busters are in "Other Sentai" here. They get crushed by Shadowmoon in a big fighting scene.
Several weaker Riders like Fourze, Meteor and Beast get hits on the big villains, while the only Sentai that do that are the Kyoryuger and Gokaiger.
Wizard is easily the strongest once using dragon forms. In the final battle, there are several shots where the entire battlefield full of Riders and Sentai (including the Gokaiger and Kyoryuger) are thrown around and Wizard by himself stops it all.
Gokaired easily breaks through Space Ikadevil's tentacles who had beaten up the main cast throughout the movie beforehand, but in the final battle after Shadowmoon throws his initial energy blast he's just thrown around alongside everyone else and accomplishes nothing of note.
KyoryuGold finishes off the movie's main villain alongside Beast.
On the other hand, CSHT pretty much had 1 Rider = 1 Sentai member. Even Final Form Riders are equaled with Powered up Reds. Most characters here are digital clones though.

I just watched the last two episodes of Ryuki.
I get it now. What a crazy way to end your series. I don't think i liked the show in it's entirety but it definitely had moments and I would say these last 5 episodes landed pretty well. The very final moments are extremely weird.

There are some parts which are absolutely fantastic, and huge stretches of the show which are deathly bland, but the final stretch almost makes up for it.
I also don't like Shinji. I think he's a good guy but a horrible protagonist, and the attitude me a hell of a lot. It's the same issue some other Riders have where they will repeat the "must we fight? I will not do anything on this battle" attitude, but it's somewhat justified here.
The alternative would be making all the other participants criminal assholes that HAD to be killed, and that would take away all the nuance the show had, like with Tiger and Imperer (my absolute favorite part that came out of nowhere too). But as a result you end up with a protagonist that may as well have stayed in bed for most of the show.

This kinda keeps the trend of there not really being a big final battle too. Kuugas is MOSTLY offscreen, Aigtos was against a dude sleeping, and Faiz while after this.... was also against a dude sleeping though I guess its the first one that does have a full on climatic battle that's actually fully on screen. Every single final fight in Ryuki is not handled in the Rider battle. Shinji dies to a monster, Odin disintegrates cause Kanzaki gives up, Kitaoka dies peacefully in his house, and Asakura is shot to death. It's left vauge but we're to believe Ren also died on the floor in the hospital. I'm sure there's a deeper meaning to that then what I can gather right now but it was pretty grim.
I'm not sure how I feel about the time reversal stuff, it was already established earlier it could be possible and my limited understanding is the 13th Rider special is a previous possible timeline? I dunno.
This is a weird series that I feel like as time passes I will remember the stuff I liked way more than the stuff I didn't like and I'll come to really like it later as opposed to right now. Also I really liked this HBV cause it was very stupid.

>>23391726Of the early Heisei shows I've seen (still have Agito and Hibiki to go), Ryuki was personally my least favorite. Not to say it was bad, but it didn't really grab me like other shows did. I know it was their first attempt to do something "different" with Rider and it definitely shows, but it also does so in this strange, disjointed way. I guess it was popular though, given it keeps coming back in some fashion every few years, but I don't know if it's personally something I'd ever revisit.

Shinji’s final sacrifice doesn’t seem that unique when I know 99% of lead kamen riders would have done the same in his place. But they also would have survived and ended the conflict. So he gets the short end of the stick compared to the others feats. Even other rider shows that reset timelines had better explanations for it.

He wasn't even the hero who saved the day since he died right in the penultimate episode and it was Ren who confronted Odin and ended the Rider War and got his wish. Shinji is basically a minor character thrusted onto the spotlight and is forced to confront the situation head on without help most of the time.
From a certain perspective Shinji is great because he tries his hardest to do good in a situation where everyone has their own conviction and justice that are flawed but come from a good place (well some of them that is). In a way, Shinji represents those that want to do good to benefit everyone rather than go on a personal quest and project his own sense of Justice that can be interpreted in many ways onto others. I have a heavy bias for Ryuki so it is my favourite Kamen Rider show but I can understand others not liking it because it is the most unusual Kamen Rider made, I don't think there has been another attempt at a protagonist like Shinji since Ryuki aired.

But this is going from being able to watch it at my own pace etc etc. If I was watching this week to week and I got another "Shinji shows up late to ore journal and gets yelled at while Kitaoka and Ren do something worthwhile" episode I would have been writing emails to the studio. If you had told me a character like Asakura was gonna last the entire series I wouldn't believe you. I'm sure there's deep meta commentary on the idea of a Rider Battle where they have to kill each other and most of the time they just straight up aren't and there is definitely some kind of symbolism of the final rider fights ending without actually being a rider fight for any of them, they all die outside of the fight. It's at least an ending made with purpose un like ya know Faiz.
I still think I might like the movie finale overall even though we don't actually get a real ending there, I really like mirror Shinji as a concept.

I could also see the company as being "good" and developing the suit as trying to make a modern Rider inspired the ones of old to fight against whatever the current threat is but that current threat would wind up being something they created as well which could be why the MC steals the belt, he finds out they're actually doing evil shit and it's a false flag to give themselves more power, either political or literal, so he steals the suit to use it against them.
In anycase the main thing i'm going to put a bet on is it explicitly being tied to the showa Rider's world in some form or another, nostalgic connections like that is something they'd think is the type of shit "westerners" would like.

A key aspect of his character that I like is his ability to gain inspiration from basically anything he witnesses, which he uses to solve many kinds of problems, from beating monsters to teaching empathy for civilians to a certain autist.
Also I recommend watching the Swordsmen Chronicles to enhance the Q1 watching experience, they flesh the other Riders out a bit more in ways the show's Q1 couldn't due to its breakneck pacing.

I think the cast is extremely enjoyable overall. Hikawa is one of the best characters in KR as a whole IMO. He's serious when he needs to be and he's the perfect comedy relief character too. His actor is just great at selling it.
Later on, some of the fight scenes get really good with the choreography. I think it's some of the best of early heisei and I think it has some of the hardest shots.
Last, I think Agito has the best intro still to this date. There's just something so powerful about READY TO GO COUNT ZERO KAMEN RIDER AGITO. Both insert song for fights are extremely catchy too. Early heisei has this issue where theres only like 4 songs on the ost and this one really suffers from it but the inserts are so damn good.

Hikawa = Ichijo in those early episodes. The whole "clumsiness" bit only becomes a big signature trait afterwards.
Nozomi = Ozawa. In the first 3 or so episodes Ozawa only seems to act as an operator, and Nozomi was a communication's officer. Only afterwards it goes into Ozawa being the genius that built the G3 suit in the first place.
Enokida = Mikumo. Female science officer investigating ancient civilizations artifacts, both Kuuga and the Grongi related things in Enokida's case, but for Mikumo she picks up some puzzle that ends up with the Overlord of Darkness unsealed. Mikumo just gets killed off after the initial episodes when the characters start standing out and any Unknown research plotline is dropped.
Ebisawa and Matsukura = I can't even remember their names, but there are some superior officers in Agito's early episodes who aren't overly antagonistic unlike the ones that show up later.

The editing and pacing of the episode was kinda off as well.
I'm still worried about the pacing of the finale because it doesn't look like any of the remaining 5 villains will die next week and it feels like the show hasn't entered the endgame proper yet.
