It was never a thing in CCA. It stems from Tomino accidentally reusing the Miguel surname for Uso's mother in Victory.

Let's compare math notes

Assume imaginary child of Char and Nanai is born in UC0094. If that child had their own baby at age 23, the year would be UC0117 and the baby would be Char's grandchild.

If that grandchild had their own baby at age 23, the year would be UC0140 and that baby would be Char's great grandchild.

By UC0153, that great grandchild is now 13 years old, which is Uso's age.
