Been making my way through Z3.2
The tag mechanic is not really my thing but it really makes All attacks stand out

MK2 giving you more units in 15 maps than you'd probably have for an entire playthrough of the first game is definitely a strange feeling. Too bad almost all of them end up rotting the bench since you're busy trying to collect all of the kill count related secrets and the game still has very anemic enemy counts.

Started playing SRW Alpha with the help of Luna, and it's been a good grand old time. With the help of the wikis I've been able to cut down on translation mistakes with PNT feature Luna had, shorting the translation times. Only issue so far for my Real Robot route was scenario 4 - The man called death. Why the fuck did they Bask Om ship have super armor! Had to chip away at his HP with Alpha's Original male MC strongest attack for minteus and they only did around 400/600 dmg. Everyone else was fucking doing 10-15, terrible design.

MK2's version of the skill system is pretty weird. They give you all of these options but its just easiest to prioritize increased exp gain since that lets you get to the break point where you get more skill slots.

I always feel like the animes and the translation patches for OGs are the only options to choose from if anyone wants to start on the SRW OG experience. The songs on all of them are amazing because of JAM Project, but the interconnected web of stories are the main charm of the series in general. This is enough reason we need official translations of all of the OG stuff and be ported on modern consoles, even if it's digital-only.

Besides the early stuff which is an entirely different set of stages for Kyosuke, up until the point where they join together at Izu base, the back half of the game has a few story differences but nothing that insane. You won't get to use the SRX as much on Kyosuke's side, only for certain stages instead of being able to freely use it for the last ~10 missions in OG1

Okay, first episode down. The show's cheap as hell and baffling as you'd expect, but it's actually making more sense than Neo Dunbine or Wings of Rean. Though that might be because the former had some of the worst subtitles I'd ever watched before I found ones that weren't garbage.

I wanted to finish going through the Super route in Alpha before Y is out since I lost my original save on that route years ago, and then I played the Real side when I finally got around to beating it

Touji's Eva is weird, I thought he was pre-upgraded or something when I saw the attack numbers but it's actually just a buffed up version of 01's loadout from like 30 stages ago, with some nonsense upgrade tier that's cheaper but scales way worse. But 3500 on the Positron Rifle at base is the same as 7 bars of upgrades on the other Evas so its basically good enough to use as is, the will requirement is removed too.

In MK1 it straight up just is a very bad unit unless you choose to gimp one of Cybuster, Valsione or Gadess for no reason.

Ranbu no Tachi is overrated. Its the strongest attack in the game sure, but it has some of the largest reqs in the game on a pilot with no Spirit. Almost every relevant endgame is Earth, so Masaki has elemental advantage on them and can easily OHKO with Akashic Buster RU which is also easier to use and has longer range. I've skipped it on two runs and felt no real loss in Masaki's general performance. Mio on the Wendy endings while not as strong on the Shu ending, picks up a 7P move on a pilot with Zeal. She can easily snipe better than even Tytti when you remember that Cassini has lower costs. Zamzeed is the weakest one overall, but not as big of a margin as you're making out. Its just held back by Mio.

PN Costs on a whole went up and many of the Masouki cant even use their finishers once before like Level 15 and then they're out entirely. Mio gets the earliest Luck in the game and the game has better element balance and inconsistent availability. Mio has a lot moments where you're going to be using her and Masaki to fund the team.

Kaiser Pilder was actually surprisingly good, as far as these units go. I don't think I had ever had Kaiser go down in a mission so this was the only time I'd seen it in action. 1-5 range missiles and a 1-3P laser with about as much base power as Mazinger Z's rocket punch and iron cutter.
That stage still sucked though, even the shitty buzzsaw UFOs could OHKO anyone if they got a hit in and anyone going down before the regular enemies spawned was a game over. And then you still have to manually fly Combattler/Voltes/Getter back together instead of it combining in a stage event or whatever, and you don't get the Mazins back mid-stage either.
