>>23408412 (OP)I would say that the Majestic Prince is very well balanced as a mecha anime.
There are various types and designs of mecha for every taste, there are large-scale battles and special operations, there is interaction between mecha and allied spaceships, technological development is well explained and integrated into the universe.
The characters are well-written both in their individuality and abilities, and in their origin as literally natural-born pilots who have undergone military training. The team that supports them is also great and, moreover, all the operations in which this super-squad participates are built on competent and interesting tactics. Moreover, the problems of relationships between various structures and organizations in the alliance of "good guys" are presented quite realistically, as well as the careerist ambitions of some subjects.
The enemies are quite acceptable - aliens with biotech and a culture of militant superiority, which create their desire for war with "related" species to stimulate their own evolution. This is 100 times more logical and interesting than the vast majority of "bases" of conflicts in many mecha anime!
Additional episodes with a new team and full activation of the main cast corrected the ending and it turns out to be practically ideal.
In my opinion, Defenders of the Galaxy can be considered almost the best mecha anime I've ever watched...
