the new hasegawa mk44 goldknight they released is almost a carbon copy of older mk44 kits except for maybe 3 parts. if thats the speed the maschinen krieger franchise is moving at, i doubt a 1/20 lancelot is happening anytime soon.

Talk about kitbash modeling, the original trilogy of Star Wars used actual modelkits for their space ships. Sadly the scenes involving these models got replaced with cgi in the special edition of the films.

There were Carnage Hearts garage kits, too. Obviously the prototype kits were made using Ma.K parts, but damn, i wish these were actual retail so i don't have to buy like 5 different kits to recreate them.

thank you :)
yeah it can be tricky, the way I do it is: paint everything with a basic skin tone; sometimes I add pink, hull red, or light skin tone depending on how dark or light I want it. then I paint the eyes and eyelids in a mix of hull red and pink and fill in the eyes themselves with light flesh or an off white. then I dot the eyes with the color I want using a toothpick just so I know where to paint them in with the brush. if you mess up it's easy to use the hull red/pink mix and side of your brush to fix any over spill. then it's just a matter of mixing basic skin tone, light skin tone, and pink to add in highlights. the really annoying part is the final step; glazing, as you can't even tell if you did anything until the 4th or 5th layer.

this vid is of a bust but it's pretty helpful to get an idea of how to go about it. and if you ever don't like the face just use acrylic thinner to strip it. also if you don't care about re-priming the figure, use lacquer thinner or super glue debonder to strip everything.

WIP, not happy with the dark chipping, I hit places that make no sense and I should have thinned the dark paint way more. I'll go nuts with the oils to clean it up.

Got some 1/35 gacha PKA H0s in the mail, might do a diorama with the 1/35 Artpla Kuster, which I plan to put a Flak 43 barrel on.

First kit I've built for MK. I had fun building and painting it, except I gotta learn to fill the gaps between parts better. Only think I didn't like about the model is that the hips area felt thin and weak, but it's covered by the plates so it doesn't get seen.

yeah parting lines are a big issue with ma.k. I find that scraping down the male connector and twirling a sharp hobby knife in the female end make the fit less tight. also milliput is your friend with these kits.
really nice work though, I like the bluish green color you used.

Thanks, I went with colors I'm more familiar with instead if the more realistic colors I see in other pics.
Ill try filing the connectors down. I used milliput but I could see the gaps still. In another thread someone suggested "sprue goo" so ill try that too on the next kit I make.

the color looks really cool, and ma.k doesn't have a set color palette. you can paint it anyway you want, it's really free form compared to other stuff.

I recommend the grey Tamiya filler putty and sanding sponge pads like these. They bend and conform to the part you're sanding so you don't wind up with flat spots when you're done. Also be liberal with your cement on the seams when you're first gluing them together.
Anonymous No.23499418

>Tamiya filler putty
while I use the tamiya putty it's really tricky to get it to work correctly. what I usually do is mix it with extra thin cement and apply several layers until the parting line is no longer visible and then sand it. I just find milliput to be much better for large gaps. but yes sanding sponges are a staple I'm pretty sure almost every one uses them. although a wood working sanding sponge is a bit better imo, as the pad last way longer.
