Turn A Gundam
What did you guys think about Turn A Gundam?

I just finished watching this show. I’ve watched everything in production order up to it and it’s probably one of my favorites. The characters are really good and the Turn X is probably my favorite mobile suit ever. I wish some of the stuff introduced at the end like the moonlight butterfly and gym ghingham and his partnership with Guin were explored more but despite that I thought they were able to wrap it up pretty good with a lot of subtle nuance and intelligent dialogue to make it not feel rushed.

Back after Destiny aired I went back to the previous serious which just happened to be Turn A and it became my favourite series. I loved the Syd Mead design, Yoko Kanno OST and weird tominoisms and world.

It's a show I love the concept of but find a bit too slow paced for my tastes. I wish I liked it more.

Apparently Tomino told them to put any Gundam there, it doesn't really matter which it was.

Is the Turn A or Turn X stronger? Gym kept saying that the Turn X is Turn A’s overseer but also in the dark history Turn A beat Turn X.

I like Turn A but it meanders quite a bit and there's at times just long stretches of nothing substantial happening.

Turn X was intended to be the commander/support unit to the Turn A. Kinda the same deal as the Sandrock was originally intended for the Op Meteor Gundam team.

Turn A is a show I felt like I wasn't intelligent enough to fully grasp in my initial viewing.

This in contrast to Iron Blooded Oprhans, where I felt I was TOO intelligent to fully grasp it, or G-Reco, where I felt I wasn't insane enough.

Backwards if anything
The Turn X is speculated to be a grunt suit from whoever made it, that’s why it’s designed for every part to be detachable and replaceable and why it was allowed to just drift through deep space

Haven't watched, but I did watch the Retcon_404 video about it before I committed to a watch. ... Decided against it.

Reason why is, well, I don't like post apocalypse fantasy settings. For whatever reason, I find them depressing, especially when it's a continuation of a series from before said apocalypse. Feels like a massive middle finger to the original UC shows.

1. I'm 34.
2. I feel that way about any story in general that uses that trope. I really have no interest in watching a series where the setting is built on the ashes of a beloved previous story and setting.

I get you, it turned me off of Turn A as well. It's like every struggle the protagonists had before was pointless. Also, Amuro believing in humanity's potential to change was wrong, because they inevitably destroy themselves, again and again and again.

It's not, though. You might've learned that if you hadn't decided to let some youtuber do your thinking for you.

Thanks for putting words to what I was feeling. I'm not saying "WHY MORE WAR AFTER OTHER WAR?" Of course there will always be conflicts and wars. If you're gonna make a show that takes place so far in the future, why not make them go forward instead of backward?

You make no sense. You're freaking out because somebody holds an opinion you don't like?

>>23428242
The thing is, while that did originally turn me off of Turn A, it gave me a lot to consider after watching. Now, I think Turn A is at the same time, something that lends a bit of hopefulness to the other stories. No matter how bad UC can get, people will persevere, humans will never go extinct. Good people will fight and preserve what they can such that, thousands of years later, there are plenty of detailed records about all these different eras. Besides, not every story needs to be concerned about the far, far future. The here and now are far more relevant to us than the heat death of the universe. Fighting to protect what you know and care about is still valuable.

I'm mildly disappointed because somebody holds someone else's opinion without bothering to form one of their own. And no, I'm not both of those posts.

Let's be real the UC's trajectory being the shitter is completely reasonable given how bad things are in Victory and Gaia Gear. Where it loses me is the AUs coming in.
