Machu was a good idea for a character and I want to get her pregnant, but honestly no I don't think she was. The episode of Char stealing the Gundam could have been done in like 10 minutes, or if they have to have the flashbacks as a full episode they could have combine the Gundam theft and the final battle together. Usually, Gundam uses pitybait characters like Deux to make a statement, but she just turned out to have only been a callback instead. I do think it's funny how people were huffing copium that she'd turn out to have miraculously survived all the way up until the final episode, probably because her character didn't have that touch of dramatic completeness it should have had. Her death feels incongruous with the overall tone of the anime as well.

Making the Augusta Labs Futbol Team with Deux!

Machu has a good baseplate that suffers from the show's short length. She's a good character in the sense that I could see her shining in something like a SRW entry due to having time to actually exist rather than getting dragged along by the plot just to get Luluco'd. Only character that felt like nothing was Shuji, he acted spacey for most of the show then suddenly was the final boss for reasons that were never really established. He was more plot device than character.
