This was not by the main writer, right? Besides, after his betrayal due to Kuon, them being pissed off when Kuon killed Mine and holding back Fire Candle while he battles Saving No One, Hoeru is just in the position to not be hostile right away. Come to think of it, Hoeru hasn't been seen working (not counting the festival) and has been in a relatively safe, familiar (at least with people who he knows and know him) environment for some time now and will be back to working next week.

Agree, but I think the issue is less trying to be anime characters and more that they don't actually have all that much going on. And I don't even mean in terms of plotlines, I mean in terms of day to day character work. In Boonboomger we would see tidbits of their day to day lives, for example, like Mira at her job or Taiya interacting with his father figure, and we barely see that with the Gozyugers. Instead they pop up in an episode to say their catchphrase and then remain silent entirely. They're honestly the least engaging cast in Sentai in a long long while. I just don't care about them even to find them annoying.

Trash 2 parter; need to get these anime-brained writers out of TOEI TOKUSATSU.

This two-parter has better writing than most of Gozyuger. The guy also wrote the two-parter with the dead wife that became a No One.

The big problem is the subplots get ignored for several episodes in a row. Unicorn and her missing sister. Lion and his evil brother(?). Wolf and his evil brother. Eagle attending school with his grandson.

Not to mention the No One hosts are a god dammed afterthought at best, now.

I love how Sakamoto will just set off an explosion right next to an actor.

Learned about this from d180223's clips. I don't see the G Gundam refs in this, Gavv, or Ultraman Z, but oh well.
