You know that I've watched it, I'm starting to wonder if I'm watching Redman or something by mistake
Other anons mentioned the choreography, but to me it's serviceable enough. What bugs me is how every fucking fight takes place out in the woods somewhere. It's like the show has basically no set design outside of Kosei's warehouse

I think the show has a lower budget then normal because next year is the 60th anniversary of the franchise. They're probably saving up a bunch for that.

All I can remember is that his appearance in Decker didn't piss me off the way watching Trigger did. Maybe it's a dose management thing, he was only there for a few episodes. He seemed to be able to fight more competently and seemed more composed and grown up.

It's similar to what I thought of Riku. I often found him to be an annoying whiny kid in Geed (especially in the movie) but his cameo in Z was fine.

This always happen to the "hated protagonist in their original show" even in other toku, Takeru from Ghost and Takaharu from Ninninger are some of the other examples.
Usually because they have less screentime now and only act as a guest.

Yea, it's kinda weird how common it os for "hated protagonist" tends to be a lot better in later guest appearances. My most hated protagonist was Gotchard and he has a cameo in Gozyuger movie so I'm waiting to see if he also fits the role.

Auldey/Alpha Group got huge due to Super Wings I think. That seems to be their only plagiarized work that stuck and got big outside China. Now they are a too-big-to-fail company, even destroying all the goodwill from the old Armor Hero fanbase didn't affect them much.

I don't know how people could muster up enough emotion about Kengo to hate him
Every new gen protagonist except Gai, Gento, and I guess now Sorato feels completely interchangeable. You could put Kengo in Ginga, Yuma in Geed, Kanata in R/B etc and I wouldn't notice a difference. They're all have the same personality, they all overact, they're all written the same way, and none of them are interesting enough to have strong feelings about

The issue is that Trigger has probably the worst set of opening episodes out of New Gen. They fail to establish a proper status quo for the show and introuduce way too much stuff that could have been handed out later in the show, like having all 3 types in the first few episodes. Kengo eventually does get more interesting and by Decker, his character has fully fleshed out, but Trigger opening episodes gave the worst first impressions which stuck with everyone.

The reason is that they want the kaiju to be mostly unknown and the characters slowly learn about them. It's part of the basic premise of this world never (openly) having kaiju before. You can't really have the Ultra knowing everything about what's going on in that case. And I guess it's an alien with amnesia rather than just giving the powers to a human because his knowledge will come up near the end to explain whatever is going on with the kaiju here.

I don't think it did though. Belial was barely in it. They did basically nothing with the idea of Geed being Belial's son. The only fun thing about Geed was Zero throwing out one liners every now and then
And for Trigger, it was so utterly different from Tiga that it felt like an in name only thing. It didn't so much tarnish Tiga's legacy as it did use its aesthetics for a cash grab

Been working my way through Showa Ultraman on an intermittent basis and just got through the Golgotha two-parter in Ace.
God was that really good. Like, a lot better than Ace has been on average. The tension and stakes were so well handled, and I loved the conflict between Earth’s military commanders and how they handle situations versus the Ultras.
The only let down was Ace Killer’s defeat was pretty anti-climactic, but I suppose it’s appropriate it would take the strength of all the Ultra Brothers after he stole four of their powers. Also, the amount of time Ultraman, Zoffy, Seven and Jack give up their energy across the two episodes is hilarious.
Anonymous No.23444619 [Report]

Jumping in to say that the featureless protagonist is a choice (maybe) because it's easier for kids to self-insert as the hero if the hero is a blank slate. I think this is especially true of Hayata and probably one reason the original Ultraman was a success.

I have to wonder how the fuck that is possible because Digimon has the evolution mechanic. I feel like if you did make a Gomora deck and tried to fight a D-brigade or any other digimon deck it'd lose because: 1 has been around long enough to get some power creep, and 2 in Digimon, you can draw a card every time you evolve, so it would just be more powerful.

Here's a copy of my post from the Godzilla thread on how I feel about Ultraman powerscaling and a potential crossover with Godzilla:

The issue with Ultraman is that his series is very inconsistent when it comes to power level which is why I don't argue with Ultramanfags. This isn't me saying he's weaker or stronger, just that, it's so plot reliant that it really ruins the narrative. Look at how kaijus are treated and when reappeared, they are either a joke or super weak.

Leugocyte is a kaiju who was the final boss of Ultraman R/B, who is a space bloodcell that can destroy planets with a single beam. Rosso and Blu struggle with this kaiju and yet, when it reappeared for Ultra Fight Galaxy, it fought Ultraman 80 and lost in under a minute. That doesn't make sense, if it's a final boss kaiju, why was it way weaker all of a sudden? Speaking of 80, Gymaira. A kaiju that absolutely destroy 80 so hard, it was a two-parter. However, when it appears during Trigger, he got jump on (literally) and died from a single blast, no struggle, no fight, nothing. Hell, Ultraman defense doesn't seem that strong either. There so many times, you multiple Ultramen, fighting a kaiju with no special power or beam and yet start blinking red when they start taken a few hits, despite the fact they should be able to tank it.

That's the issue with Ultraman, it's inconsistent. Ultraman is strong, yes, but there is too many times things where it's just all over the place.

>buff Godzilla/Ultraman

In what way? I already talk about Ultraman, now let's talk about Godzilla. He's inconsistent too, considering almost every movie is a different version of him. Who are you going to buff, 1954, being the first and most basic/weakest one or Ultima, the one who's very existences that will destroy the universe itself? Just let them both appeared, it's going to be entertaining either way.

ultraman does whatever he wants. shin man absolutely bodies any type of gozilla and shin ultras are canonically multiversal, not even in an autistic powerscaler type, multiverse is mentioned by name and they have interstellar agreements between sentient aliens. zoffy even makes mention that they are aware of around 13 billion sentient species before deploying the zetton super weapon to wipe the entire solar system

You're missing some key factors:
>R/B aren't particularly strong (They're shown as weak both in and out of the show, the only particularly strong O-50 Ultra is Orb and he's just an oddity, since Fuma and Grigio closer to the R/B end of the scale
>The 80 that beat Leugocyte is the same 80 that lost to Gymaira, because the 80 that lost to Gymaira was much younger and less experienced and became significantly stronger over time due to training and NEEDING to be stronger for his station in the Ultra Garrison. His power wasn't flat. Similar is true for every Showa Ultra, they got stronger over time.
>Trigger is bullshit strong, to the point he's more comparable to Dyna than Tiga in terms of sheer power.

And Godzilla Ultima's 4th dimensional shit doesn't really mean much given any Ultra that's fought Bullton, Icarus, or Bam/Mechagiras has dealt with 4th dimensional bullshit already. Frankly he's just a stronger Choju - and while that's still very scary, it's not a unique threat to Ultras as a whole.

That's what I'm saying. The Ultraman franchise is nothing more than Silver age Superman (shooting mini version of oneself out their hands) but there's nothing wrong with that. The issue comes from powerscaling, which is why I made that whole thing in the first place. If Godzilla and Ultraman were to fight, it would be up to the writer. If they are a Godzilla fanboy, Godzilla will win, Ultraman fanboy, Ultraman will win. That's is what I am saying and said at the very last of the sentence. It's entertainment. Just make it like Baki vs Kengan, fuck the powerlevel, make it fun.

Ultima is nothing like those guys. Ultima threat comes not from it's literally power, but the fact it's breaking the very universe, the longer it stay in it. Ultima is an avatar to an eldritch being that have a desire to destroy the entire multiverse. It destroy universes by breaking down the math of the universe and seeps in as it do so. The only way to truly get rid of it was to find an equation to banish IT from the universe to seal it off for good. Killing the avatar will do nothing as it can keep coming back and stronger as well. Your best hope would be to relied on Hikari or Sora to find the equation but even that's hard. Before you say, this sound fake, it's not and comes from both the anime and novel.

Yeah one of the weakest mainline Ultras has dealt with this problem, and another who has been described as only being "A third of a hero" and is physically a young adolescent in their species has also dealt with it too with the help of another teenage example of their species.

Greeza (Frieza) is nothing like any other characters that is 4th dimension or higher. Greeza is basically an error in space (a hole) that shouldn't exist. It's defeat was possible due to X being absorb, only for him to blow it up from the inside out and forcing it to recreate a new body that is no longer an error. It was finally defeated thanks to the power of friendship (I dare you to tell me it wasn't that). And be mindful that Z himself said the final form was more powerful than the one he fought. Z won his version of Greeza because of his new weapon is literally a space needle (with a hint of Belial DNA), meant to fix said hole. If you are going to use a example, use Yapool, a being that actually conquered his home dimension and even when he die, he always come back.

Greeza is literally nothing like Frieza, what the fuck are you talking about? Greeza's literally a living hole in reality that is explicitly an existential threat to reality itself. Just a tiny emulation of its power in a kaiju card was enough to wipe people out of reality (Source: Juggler Chronicle). Vacuumon has a pretty easy explanation. Were repeatedly told Ultras are weakened by fighting in Earth’s atmosphere because they don’t have unlimited access to light like they would in space or on their home planet, and as such they have to limit their strength so as to not run out of energy too quickly (this is why they tend not to open up with their finisher attacks).
Jack fought Vacuumon in space, where he would be able to use his full strength with no worries about running out of energy, so he easily killed the shit out of it.
Never fight an Ultra in space.

Liked the spooky vibes and the goofy but competent paranormal YouTubers.
The Kaiju felt kinda underutilized. It’s apparently not related to the other dimension and was just trapped there, and it only used its shield gimmick once. Missed opportunity to do a really spooky, overworldly Kaiju, but I feel like this may be set up for a separate plot point down the road.

I enjoyed this episode actually, biased because I dig the supernatural vibe a lot of it had in general (felt it could've gone in harder with that angle even) but also it's jokes landed for me for once, the Ghost Riders were a funny bunch. Was that Kaiju really bothering anyone? It was literally stuck where it couldn't cause harm to the outside world and it didn't seem to be attacking people (thanks to the boy?). The danger of it getting sucked into normal space was entirely because the fanatic group had tech they probably aren't responsible enough to use.
I thought Omega attacked first because killing the Kaiju would get rid of the space tine anomolies, but it didn't.
Just kind of feels like they walked up to a rabbit in a cage and killed it for no reason.

Both teams take turns being on offense and defense.
On offense, each player steps up to be on bat in turn. Their job is to hit the ball so that it isn’t caught and try to run the diamond shape of Bases without getting tagged by a defending player holding the ball. If the player is tagged, the ball is caught by a defending player before it hits the ground or the batter misses hitting a thrown ball they could have hit three times, they are out. A batter is able to stop on any base and be safe from attempts to get them out, getting the chance to run again if another batter hits the ball. After three outs, the teams switch sides on how is on offense and who is on defense.
Defending players are situated throughout the field, mainly having one player near each base, some in the outfield past the bases, one pitching and one standing behind the batter. Their job is to get the batter out before they return to home base, which is how you score in the game. If a batter hits the ball out of the field, this is called a Home Run, and they, along with any batters who are still on a base, get to run to home.
The pitcher is the most important defending player. They must throw the ball in such a way that the batter can hit it legitimately (not just with the tip or base of their bat) but fast enough that the batter misses. Throwing a legitimate pitch that the batter misses or doesn’t swing on is called a Strike, and after three Strikes, the batter is out. Throwing an illegitimate pitch is called a Ball, and if a pitcher throws four Balls, the batter automatically gets to advance to first base (this is called a Walk). However, if the batter hits the ball and it falls out of bounds to the left or right of the field, this is called a Foul and earns them a Strike, though they cannot get their final Strike from a Foul.
After both teams get a chance at bat, the inning ends and play moves on to the next inning. There are nine innings in total.

A team of Ultras led by Ultraman Roid, the latest Next Generation Heroes star (he's the second cousin, thrice removed from Ultraman Jack) must deflect blasts from a team of Alien Baltan aimed at the main base of SPORT, this season's defense team.
Upon deflecting the blast, the Ultra must then check on the three outposts of SPORT before returning to the main base to continue helping with the defense. However, they can remain at an outpost safely if they think too many Baltans are in the way of their returning to the home base.
The Baltans, meanwhile, can be tricky with their shots, but must fire their blasts right at SPORT's base. If they don't, they risk setting off various traps and defense measures SPORT has put into place, which would allow an Ultra to check on an outpost safely while the Baltans deal with the defenses.
The Ultras, likewise, must not allow a Baltan to catch a deflected energy blast before it hits the ground, as the combined energy of the original shot and the deflection would allow the Baltan who catches it to temporarily become so powerful, they would take the Ultra out in one shot. If the energy hits the ground, enough of it dissipates that the Baltan cannot power up, though they should still avoid getting hit by a Baltan holding the energy. The Ultras should also avoid deflecting the shot in too wayward a manner, as their would cause collateral damage to nearby cities.
Should SPORT's homebase be hit too many times or too many Ultras are taken out by the Baltans, the Ultras will have to retaliate by attacking the Baltan's flying saucer, causing a reverse of situations where it is the Ultras firing the blasts and the Baltans deflecting it.
