Whether homo or not. You do actually see this with who char shows any type of interest in. Even quess. Char wants someone to prop him up or someone stronger than him.
Quess felt like to him, even with the shitty writing someone who believed in him wholeheartedly like lalah but not romantically (?) it always felt that he had a motherly instinct from his own lack of a family.
There is a lot to break down with the trauma of his family and how many roles he had to take one despite them all falling apart in the end. Even without his lalah could've been a mother line you see it with his interpersonal relationships all having the trend of him preferring to have the less strong role. I would also argue he's a submissive at heart as well
