Probably In Space and I say this as someone who binged this franchise in his 30s so I have no nostalgia factor at play. It has the most consistently well written episodes with a clear end goal in mind, which at the time was the end of the series, and the music was still done by Ron Wasserman, who has that cool 90s synth vibe to his stuff.

Lightspeed Rescue has one of the best set of zords in the franchise history, and I say this as someone who started with MMPR.
Carter is one of the best red rangers we had, Joel is fun, Chad is as chad, Dana is sweet and Kelsey is peak tomboy material.
Diabolico was a cool villain, the Titanium Ranger plotline was great
LOLing if you're some Disney era fan who defends the slopshow that was the Mystic Force/Operation Overdrive/Jungle Fury era
Anonymous No.23465445
While not my personal favourite its probably Timeforce. Much more complex character dynamics, willing to touch on more complex moral issues than usual, likeable cast with early roles from some new blood that would go on to become house names and some veterans winding their career down just having fun but still giving it 100%.

Plus the actual end where the villain goes "holy shit i nearly lead my daughter to her death, you know what cuff me boys, i am turning myself in i fucked up" was extremely unique.

Ninja Storm has it's fans, and I'm sure it's ok, but it's where the franchise died for me. The shift to Disney made it feel way more ironic and belittling of the material. I'm. not saying old PR was edgy serious or lacked campy humor, but the Disney seasons is when it started to feel like the show was aware of how ridiculous it all was. I always got the feeling that Disney didn't just not care about the franchise, but felt the material was beneath them so there's this feeling of disdain for playing it too straight and this need to jangle keys and add goofy humor to undercut things.
It was especially jarring coming off 4 seasons of characters regularly dying or all these melodramatic backstories

I doubt most end up seeing much, being on the acting side there isn't much reason to besides curiosity, unless the creators really want them to match the JP actors. Especially before the neo-Saban years where you couldn't just pull up the JP season on a bootleg streaming site without torrenting or streaming while it aired in Japan.
There are proabably a few actors who've since sought out their season in it's original Sentai form, but it would be long after they finished shooting. The thing is most of these seasons were produced on fairly brisk schedules, most of them barely remember day-to-day shooting and it all blurs together, and because they're young actors in often their first big roles, they're spending a lot of time hanging out and partying to let off steam, not watching more TV(though a few have mentioned throwing Saturday morning watch parties to watch their seasons)

Well, first, that Megazord is a fan (re)design (the Baconadon and Featherdactyl Zords never actually get used in the comic), and second, what's wrong with it? It's a pretty basic "one goes on top, one goes on the bottom" Zord combination you might actually see on the show. IIRC, the shoulder pads are usually attached to the chest piece, so detaching it that way and stuffing the suit full of wires and other crap would damage it. But the rest is fairly modular (pelvic armor, thigh guards, boots, ect.), So they shouldn't be completely irreparable. I'd say it's more the outer wear and tear from the squibs and other battle damage than anything else.

Kind of amusing how they're blending the style of the original series with the ethnicities from the 2017 movie. Except for "Zack", who is Hispanic(?) for some reason.

No that scene totally ruined the suits, to the point Toei can no longer use it in Sentai or display it at their Museum. The Red Dragon is the Dairanger rep in those instances. And given they still have the very first robot suit from 1979 still displayable (it can't be worn but its still good enough to show off) and are 25 year old Wild force stuff in the latest Sentai the only logical explaination is that either that one specific suit failed to hold up unlike every other robot suit before and after it, or PR destroyed it during the destruction scene because they didn't think it would ever be needed again

Which, honestly, is totally Toei's fault. Say what you will about Saban (the studio), but I can't imagine they would've destroyed the suits had Toei explicitly told them "Don't wreck our suits, we want them back eventually."
Anonymous No.23494280

Saban did that a lot. To the point where Toei started refusing to give them the original props telling them to make their own.
Anonymous No.23494285
>>23494257
Part of it was short sightedness by Toei. They were still in the one and done part of Sentai. Crossovers wouldn't be a thing for another year and anniversary stuff was rare to the point where the only major production that actually used older suits in any capacity was the theme park short video short shortly before they sent the Dairanger stuff over for PR.

But Saban (and the PR crew in general) does have a general "We own this forever" attitude towards the stuff to the point where they actively cockblocked Toei trying to buy any of it's stuff back during the PR fire sale a year or so back. Presumably Toei had a specific rule about Megazord suits that the PR team couldn't keep or damage them and had to return them when they were done. They did offer the Megazord suit for once and always but the PR team turned them down and opted to CG it.

Say what you will about the suits overall (wtf is going on with the boots), but the White Ranger's shield and belt are a noticeable improvement on those from the movie's suit. I've always thought the movie's shield was too small (trying to make it too much like the Green Ranger's?) and whoever decided the White Ranger should have a white belt should be shot.

>>23494343
Got to disagree there. Despite the movie shield just being the standard chestpiece with extra shoulder pads, the streamlined proportions where always cooler to me than the original vest style look. Fine in it's original context, but going from the Dragon Shield to that was a major downgrade. I do agree on the belt though. Making it gold would've elevated it to a 11/10 design.

Are they ALLERGIC to casting attractive actors and actresses?

The girls are mid or have manjaws.
The men look like smiling dorks. NONE of them look fit or trained in martial arts at all. Lmao wtf is going on with Black? That is Zack's replacement? Is this a joke???

Every single member of the original MMPR cast had martial arts training except Amy Jo Johnson. But she at least was a trained gymnast, and was trained by others to do basic martial arts while filming the show. ALL of them were very fit.

So are we going to get a bunch of wire work like a Chinese drama?

Also wtf is going on with the ethnic ratio of the team? 3 brown Latinos or Mexicans? NO Asians?? No black guy??? What happened to having 1 of every race?

Also those suits look ugly.

Fans who say TF is the best PR season should just be watching Sentai, TF is a bastardization of TimeRanger. PR should be western-styled storytelling on top of Japanese designs and fight scenes. RPM is the best and any other answer is wrong (LR's finale are the best two PR episodes though)

Honestly it was a huge missed opportunity to have the characters bonding with their zords. They don’t have to talk, but the Rangers could treat them like giant kaiju-sized pets. Imagine Dragon Zord sensing Tommy is in danger, and comes to his aid without being summoned. Or Conner learning to tame his Zord. All of that would’ve been enjoyable.

It would make it more poignant and emotional when they inevitably lose the zords at the end of the season. That's one thing about the seasons as they go on, the zords feel more vestigial and they have no issues destroying or losing them. The zords getting destroyed in DT feels like it happens so fast.
