Instead of just power armor, what of the manga had them piloting Ultra-like mechs? Or even just using some of the existing giant robot designs? They don’t have to strictly do the beta capsule.
But the manga itself is just so different from what an Ultraman show is all about and how it’s structured that it just feels like a waste. I’m not afraid of franchises doing something new or weird. But there should still be at least some of the elements that drew me into the franchise in the first place, and the manga doesn’t have that. Why adapt THE giant hero show and not have a giant hero?

Problem with DRC is that for a form where Belial is a huge factor it looks pretty heroic. Yeah, they have Geed and Zero Beyond but still the form is more associated with Belial above all else, and the blue and gold has no reason to exist. If it was purple I could at least buy it because it's Zero Beyond's color and plus purple is common for darkness-related. Which is why Deathcium Rise Claw >>23480757 looks far more fitting. I personally think there is a point about DRC looking very heroic despite using Belial's power, and how that ties into Z final message of how power is dependant on who wields it, not by its inherent nature. The problem is that this is a connection that Z never really explores and capitlizes on, which in general is my biggest issue with the show.

DRC scheme comes from Zero Beyond. It's kinda obvious. Also, you guys easily forget that Belial isnt actually evil. He's greedy and jealous but he's still a hero and he never wanted Rayblood's power. Rayblood forced his way into Belial's body. (At least in the original movie. Whatever Sakamoto did with UGF is a different can of worms, borderlining character assassination) and we know Belial is good because Geed is 99.99% clone of him raised by humans, turned out fine.

Anyways his colour scheme can be broken down as:
Gold: Standard super form colour, no surprise
Red: All 3 components have Red
Blue: Zero is blue, Beyond crystal are also blue, not purple

It should be pretty obvious that most of the DRC motif is lifted straight from Zero Beyond since he's Z's master. Honestly, the 2 Belial components are just there to make Beliarok a thing lol (to sell toys. duh)

Rising is fine for what it is. It's similar to Cosmos with the part of not wanting to kill the kaiju. Yes, Rising wasn't even an Ultraman movie at first, in fact, the original idea was based around Ultraman and Super Sentai. It was in development since 2001.

I like the movie for what it is. Just know that it follow the son of Ultraman and learn to be humble and raise a baby kaiju.

Dull is about right. Fights are kind of limp and the main trio is nothing special. The idea is that we're in a world where kaiju are a whole new thing, but we don't really get much focus on that aspect and it ends up not feeling any different from any other Ultra setting. A lot of the entertainment so far has come from Omega/Sorato being a goofball, but we're lacking any real hooks to get invested in whatever story they're eventually going to tell. We're fast approaching the halfway mark and still don't really have anything resembling an actual plot.

Anon who is working his way through Ultraman Ace here. Just got to the Hipporit two-parter.
Mostly lived up to the hype. Seeing all the Ultras taken out so definitively really upped the stakes, and I wasn't expecting Father of Ultra to get taken out too. Kinda weird they played up the fact he died so much considering they're going to walk it back later this very show.
I noticed Ultraseven had a better showing against Hipporit than the rest of the Ultra Brothers. Was he more popular or something? Also, the plot with the little kid and the dead dad could have been handled better.
Saying goodbye to Minami next episode, which I just know is gonna piss me off.

I think Kaiju plots work better when there's some kind of sci-fi or fantasy story that then -leads- to the kaiju. Part of the problem with Omega's is (also shared by Return of Ultraman's early episodes but it actually mostly improved later on) is that all Kaiju are basically giant animals suddenly appearing for one reason or another and rampaging.

Don't get me wrong, I like alien invader episodes. Baltan is my favorite for a reason.
But I liked how in the original Ultraman, one episode could be an ancient dinosaur, one could be a mad science experiment gone wrong, one could be a creature from mythical legend and one could be an alien invasion.
With Seven, it was just invasion after invasion after invasion. It made the individual kaiju and seijin way less memorable, not helped by the suits looking worse, in my opinion.
Maybe this is easier to handle when you're only watching one episode a week, but when you do 2-3 every day or two, Seven just gets stale a lot quicker. Not to say it doesn't have great episodes, the Metron one, the android planet one or the Nonmalt episodes all stand out. But outside of those exceptions, Seven's average episode just didn't feel as memorable.

I still enjoyed most of the 40s, although you could tell they were lower budget and after a while they incorporated that into the writing, resulting in sillyness (like one episode that made it a point it was only the main cast handling the entire base, to the point of causing stree, since they slowly had phased out the nameless members and someone saw that and outright incorporated it into an episode's script like it was supposed to be like that)... and then you have a really bad finale which combines all the worst aspects of the lower budget's effect on the production, completely destroying some drama that could have been decent.

Watching Omega's latest episode makes me realized what a wasted of an opportunity the setting for the series is, if only they change how the straightman character should be and what the series could be about

Personally I hate how they persist in depicting Kosei as this exasperated everyman who can't deal with Surato's alien shenanigans, 10 episodes in when he has a fucking psychic connection with two goddamn Kaiju. Sorato is essentially already acclimated to earth life (other than not caring about his secret identity), but they still want Kosei to play off of him like his grounded straightman.
But since Sorato is relatively normal now and isn't causing any real problems, it just kind of makes Kosei seem like a jerk with a stick up his ass.
At the same time they are giving Kosei an absurd amount of power and responsibility as a single character because they insist on a remarkably tiny cast. Ignoring all the other issues. Why the on earth does Omega essentially only have three reoccurring cast members? This feels insane.
Despite its reputation, I always felt Orb suffered a lot from having a really small main cast, specially when you consider how little Naomi's coworkers contributed in most episodes. But at least one of the characters was an antagonist for Gai to play off of. A very important role to keep things moving.
Omega's pool of possible characters dynamics feel like their limited to a comedy duo act that's been stretched thin, with an occasional sobering appearance from a would-be-kaiju researcher who's less informed than the Ultra himself. When this show was first stretching it's legs I assumed we were just taking it slow until more characters were introduced. But no, this trio seems to be the entire main cast. On top of that few of the episodic characters really feel like they have much effort behind them.

This doesn't just reflect in the cast, just look at where most the fight takes place: the middle of nowhere. I haven't seen Heisei Seven (yet) but Seven X definitely felt like it was having an identity crisis the whole time. It presented itself as a mature adult series ostensibly aimed at fans of the original Seven, but at the same time it did a lot of goofy/cheesy stuff you'd expect from a mainline Ultra and it never really got darker/more mature than Nexus. Seven X was actually my introduction to Ultraman all those years ago and I know now it was probably the worst possible way to dive in. The ending theme was awesome to teenage me though.
