How did you all feel about Infinite Ryuvius. I just finished it and it’s unlike anything else I’ve seen.

Also say something nice about Vital Guarder

Is this show good? Digibro recced it as an alternative to SAO eleven years ago, but he did that at the same time he recced Shield Hero so I can't trust him.

I loved the vital guarder control system. One of the most realistic ways I've seen mecha piloting ever depicted. Having a room of programmers on the spot to code macros and forward them to a loader is such a novel idea.

It's a good show, definitely worth a watch.

One of the worst anime ever made. I'm not exaggerating. The only way I can see anyone liking this is if they wanted an entire story dedicated to dickheads being vile to one another for 26 very slow paced episodes.

There really should be an /m/ related one, but most mecha fans are subgenre specific or very surface level in their approaches.

Watched it a few months ago and cannot say I cared for it. The very few characters I liked just randomly flipped switches near the end and became one dimensional shitters completely counter to what they had been for 15-20 episodes. Only the dinosaur girl stayed consistent throughout.
Also the mech was lame

>How did you feel about Ryvius?
I didn't like it as much as I should have, but that's because I went in with the wrong mindset; I wanted mecha action, not teenage drama mixed with 'true [insert political ideology here] hasn't been tried yet' on the ship. I felt it had a lot going on and I was paying attention to the very few mecha scenes while ignoring the rest. I also got tired of Hiraiface real quick, despite having no issues with it while watching SEED.
I should rewatch it some day.

I like its organical look.

A guy called RobotBlueprint is doing deep-dives into 70s /m/ shows, if you’re looking for a long-form review of lesser known shows

You’ve never seen an Eva clone?

The ending's kind of underwhelming and the main character's brother who looks like Kira but acts like an edgier Shinn was such a cunt and I kept waiting for his "redemption" but he barely does anything even when his brother gets shot and he only helps his brother at the very very end. I liked the boiling pot situation and how you could see the internal politics of the ship continuously shift throughout. All that combined with the hip hop soundtrack made for a fun experience. The programming macro battles were fun and had some good tension sometimes but honestly the real meat of the story takes place within the ship and not the battles.

Removing the gary stu pilot brother would only have helped the series. Every scene he was in got dragged down by his totally over the top angstiness, and what he contributed plot-wise could easily have been handled better by the sisterboning friend guy. If he were the far and away best pilot(coder?) instead, his mental break reign of terror arc would've made a bit more sense since he was absolutely needed for the mech
