It really wasn't that bad.

the porn was preddy gud
Anonymous No.23502236
it felt soulless compared to the original and ended up dropping it after everyone got wrecked by that demonic looking Gunpla
Anonymous No.23502242
Nah it was pretty damn bad
Anonymous No.23502285
It just didn't have that spark compared to the original.

It's better than the two that followed.

It was rushed to all hell and the new director didn't know how to keep a tight leash on Kuroda who fell into his bad habit of inserting a bunch of harem romcom elements into his writing. The main problem with the show itself was it was a rushed out blatant cash grab. the Execs wanted to capitalize on Build Fighters unexpected success and pushed it out within like 1/3 the time shows are normally in production resulting in a bunch of really sloppy animation (Especially in the first half) and writing that was kind of all over the place. They also mandated the terrible tri-battle thing because they wanted more gunpla to sell.

Basically, Tri's main issue was that it needed another full year to bake in the oven instead of Execs rushing it out in like 8 months.

the only good GBF is the original one.
the only good thing about Try is Transient Gundam

I liked the Dunbine Victory thing and Tryon 3.

Nah, it was a huge step down from GBF, and the constant Jigen How Are You Spam was awful.

The difference in hype between the /m/ threads spoke volumes.

It wasn’t but the problem is it’s nowhere near as good as Fighters

I never understood why people complained about ending every fight with Build Knuckle. Do people complain about Domon always winning with Shining Finger? Whatever the case, the production staff clearly learned the wrong lesson from the complaint because the finishers in Try felt so lame.

It invalidates a lot of the teamwork angle. Why bother with 3v3 when 70% of the time its Sekai doing all the legwork?

Certainly a dropoff from the first but still pretty good, and 2nd best of the 4 series (just barely over the 4th). 3rd sucked.
And main chick's might be the only SD I've ever actually liked

A major wasted opportunity was teaching Sekai Gundam beyond gunpla. Sei already knew and Reiji never learns beyond gunpla battling. Having a character in Reiji's shoes actually learning about Gundam would connect to Domon as his teacher and be an area they never did for Reiji.

There was more esteem for the first half including saying the Destiny Gundam got a better showing here. The second half fell off. Similar to the original where people scoffed at how predictable the tournament bracket was maybe besides the Renaldo twins but some saw that coming too.

Yeah, it wasn't bad per se. It was solidly mediocre. A step down from the series it followed.

Better than what was to come but that's an egregiously low bar.

I do think the glasses kid (whatever the fuck his name was) was a bit flat. Like yeah, he had that whole arc about not being scared and shit but I can't even remember his name, which is a shame since I did like his gunpla. The Domon connection was great but underexplored. Overall, the reliance on tropes just really dragged this series down. If I were to go back, I'd have prevented the initial bait-and-switch because I'm pretty sure we all expected fumina to be the protag at first.

Honestly, the thing that pisses me most about Try is that it has all these connections to the original Build Fighters but doesn't do a single thing with any one of them. Like why constantly tease about Sei if you're never actually going to see him show up. I genuinely think Try would be a better show if you jettison all the BF connections and make it completely standalone, cause as is, they serve as a constant reminder of a better show you could be watching. My opinion on this got further incense when Re:Rise came out and did pretty much all of this correctly.

Its like the writers wanted to emulate G-Gundam, without watching G-Gundam at all with Sekai

It was better than build fighters because it understood it was a tournment series and not a shallow excuse for the plot with the villain meddling in the competition and also the fucking retarded focus on particles

I'd prefer if Fumina was the MC. She's the Sei of Try more than Yuuma.

The moment that soured me on Try was the aquatic mobile suit team and how it was just a joke, despite them getting at least a little buildup.
I feel like if that same idea were used in Build Fighters they would have given the aquatic suits a good showing, even if they were in a similar disadvantageous scenario. The whole idea of bringing in aquatic specialists to begin with is that it can make for an interesting combat scenario that goes into a non-traditional environment. The reason being that Build Fighters was made with reverence towards Gundam's history and wouldn't have an extended buildup to a joke about how "these parts of Gundam are dumb, these Mobile Suits suck."
And it's not just the aquatic MS, it basically feels like Try is just shitting on everything except the characters and concepts it thinks are the best. "People think Minato is cool? Oh, better toss aside the parts that made people like him and make him a creep who hotglues MS girls, because we don't want people to like Minato."

I only remember that one guy bitchslapping his girlfriend for talking shit about the MC's team. Also had a pretty unique unit.

Despite all that I still hope the next Build series would be a continuation of the Fightersverse.
And no, I don't consider Build Metaverse canon.

It was really inconsistent with how we were supposed to read shit.
>One of the MC's is traumatized because his gunpa got savaged in a fight and this is supposed to be a big deal.
>A handful of episodes late: HAHAHAH WE'RE SO COOL LOOK AT HOW WE SAVAGE THOSE OTHER GUNPLA

>Tri's main issue was that it needed another full year to bake in the oven instead of Execs rushing it out in like 8 months.

See I don't even really buy that as an explanation. Yeah it was slapdash but I feel like even on a fundamental outline level you should have been able to come up with something that wasn't insufferable even if it was just generic.
