/gpg/ - Gunpla/Plamo General
-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.

practice, fuck up and research the hell out of your mistakes.

You want to learn how to thin paints to flow correctly, you can airbrush any liquid when thinned down correctly.

I can't stress the practice part enough. Just get the brushes or airbrush and start painting, don't be an indecisive pussy like most gundam builders

So far I've decided on adding a little brain under the clear piece, some tentacles coming out of the eye and the radiators and running under the shell and some muscle tissue in little piston windows on the underside of the legs, also some human teeth under the head. I want to keep it relatively tame but at the same time I feel like that's not enough. Any ideas on what to add, particularly for the rear section?

I want a 1/100 Delta Gundam now, the HG reminds me just how much I like the Delta Gundam's design. That'll be a project for when my skills have matured though. I'm between the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 MG and the Delta Plus MG it shouldn't be impossible or require too much scratch building.

I assembled the Jahannam HG, I plan on using this to practice detailing and painting. Not sure what color scheme I'll be going for with it I'm just not a fan of the blue. Might go classic Zaku green, or maybe Char custom, or something else entirely, not sure yet. Don't have a spray booth yet I was planning on adding that next month.

Been working on this. Got the metal frame and I think it's the cause of most of my grief with this this ver ka. Most of that grief will be fixed once I tighten the loose areas, but damn. There's a lot of line cleaning to do, and I still have to assemble the backpack and fins. I also need to decide if it's worth trying to repair the hands. I have a 3rd party set, but they're not as chunky, which makes them look weird. If I get a rx79 2.0, I'll probably use the hands for that so I'll have a fresh set for the Nu.

Based. I just got back into model kits again recently, and inevitably fell back into Zoids. I actually prefer the HMM to a lot of Bandai's stuff, and I've been really curious about getting the new 1/100 line. I've seen mostly positive stuff, but for the same reason I don't have a lot of MG, I've been unsure cause I like to keep a similar scale.

It's exactly the same in Japan right now. Probably worse due to how weak Yen is. Un-built kits in the 2nd hand market are insanely priced.

Fun kit. The plastic is noticeably softer than the stuff bandai uses for gunpla. Instructions are easy to follow and the sculpt is good. One of the tiny 1mm pegs on the back broke without me noticing but it still went together fine despite it. I'll just glue it in place after reassembly since it's a static piece.
Am I gonna get ripped apart by the zoids enjoyers if I paint it a different color?

I just need to wait for this clearcoat to cure before I do more painting. I topcoat my base paints and then do detail painting and panel lining with water based paint so that it's easy to clean up any errors. so far, which is base body and the beam rifle I'd say around 60-70% of the parts are undergated

however, the placement and material is kinda prone to still leave a nub mark if you are not careful

this is especially the case with the gold parts, as the gold paint coat is hard, so when you are removing the nub you may scrape off a bit of paint from the side and a visible surface, so you have to be careful

They'd have to be autistic to want one. Apparently the kit itself is rather basic. The camo print is a form of waterslide decal torture, and the only accessories that make it stand out is the inclusion of a Hizack\Marasai-type beam rifle. Anyone who knows what they're doing can make a better version by painting a regular Jegan D-type and stealing the beam rifle from another kit.

I wish Kotobukiya would make a 2.0 of the LIger Zero. That kit is ancient by today's standards and could do with some improvement. Especially with the quality of the plastic. It feels rickety handling it compared to the Konig Wolf which is buttery smooth and just right in tolerances.

Yes and no. Even among water-based acrylics there are some issues if certain brand uses different medium. Like how you can mix without any kind of issues AK, Vallejo, GW or TTC paints but Army Painter could react differently (I didn't try it myself but assume so since it was the only paint to react with white spirit after curing so I assume the medium is different). Or so called "contrast" paints with normal ones. And you have Tamiya "acrylics" that are alcohol-based and wouldn't like water based acrylics at all. Art store paints are different than hobby ones so would need to experiment first.

It's 10 dollar flat rate shipping. They separate things into item groups and everything in the same group will be shipping as a part of the flat rate shipping. Zoomer here. We started to use internet around 6 years old to play Stickman flashgames and watch disturbing stuff on Youtube. Google was much easier to navigate back then due to the existence of independant forums and the lack of censorship back then, unlike now you get retarded Reddit posts and have to resolve to literall Indian tech youtubers. Due to the extremely anonymous nature of forums and early social network, none of the millennials knew i was a kid or even care about such thing. People lable Zoomers as the "grown up with internet generation" for a reason. Millenials nowadays just try to depict early internet as some sort of horrifying wild west, but it wasn't like that. The metal frame kit came with replacement hard points that have very little flop. My RG Nu wing is a floppy mess, and I have to use the shield to prop it up. This one? There's nothing holding it up in that picture. Like, I'm genuinely impressed. Here's a side shot.

I assume you're using the ones with the long pointy tip. I slid that shit under my fingernail enough times while hyperfixating on my plastic robot. Then I realized there are literal flat and square blades decided to remove the necessary risk.
Pic related, I like #5 and #18 for actual plastic knife work and use the long tip only for cutting masking tape and waterslide decals.

I kinda understand why. The kit essentially having an innerframe due to its Infinite Justice legs and bust serve as the structure for its outer shell. It is fully intact without Zgok's armor, which is really impressive. Gelgoog Menace is much more empty so it is cheaper.

>MG Delta Gundam
God, I wish. Delta is one of the few times I like the 'upgrade' as much or more than the original.

Like ZZ, think FAZZ is hideous.
Love Nu, hate HWS and Hi-Nu.
Love V, cant stand V2.
Ect, but Delta Gundam, I like it better than better than Hyaku Shiki. Like it better than Delta Plus, like it better than Mega Shiki, all the other Shikis. That wave rider is beautiful. Hell, I even go as far as saying I like it better than Zeta, as sacrilegious as that sounds the transformation is cleaner, and at the end the wave rider looks better.

Also the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 was an amazing MG and having a Delta based on that kit would be amazing.

you only need a bit of water vapor to promote rust
Anonymous No.23529442 [Report]
>>23529414
The inside of the tank is unpainted and will always be rusty. You need significant water to dissolve the rust so that more rust can form.
Also at the pressure that hobby tanks are kept at, a failure is just going to be a pinhole leak not an explosion.

It gets too cold to use leveling or regular thinner in my garage in the winter. If I use rapid thinner, I can at least still paint black and then all my metallics, even if they won't look as good. It's probably an insanely silly idea.

I just run a heater near my booth in the garage. I do have it insulated on the outside walls. The garage insulation did pay for itself in my normal heating bill after like 3 years as it helped in both summer and winter.

I tried running a heater early on this year when it was just a smidge under suitable temperature but with the garage having no insulation it didn't make a difference.
