I think something that Riders are missing nowadays is that they don't use bikes just to get around town anymore. I think a good example of getting around it would be the way Agito did it where they had normal motorcycles that they rode normally and transformed into their Rider machines when they did. You can save the modified bikes for Rider action sequences and it wouldn't run afoul of bike laws as much.

So something interesting to note with Zeztz cast billing is that it's a little different from previous Reiwa shows and most Heisei shows. Typically, the first billing is the main followed by the secondary being the second billing followed by the heroine and then the tertiary (unless the heroine is the tertiary). The the Zeztz cast is ordered goes Baku, Nemu, the two detectives, his sister, then Nox last when Nox should have had second billing and he's all the way towards the bottom. Obviously probably means jack shit and no one probably cares, but it is kinda interesting because it could even imply Nemu or someone else could be the secondary instead of Nox but Wizard also had a similar cast list with Nito listed after everyone else. Just kinda wanted to bring that up because it's something I noticed was odd.

Most of the rivals that show up in the beginning usually end up the tertiary and he does seem like a straight up villain in Q1 like Chase and Alain were. The story is by the numbers, the alchemy stuff is a footnote, the school stuff is especially a footnote, the Chemies aren't utilized well enough, Houtarou's and Rinne's actors are incredibly green. Anon the problem was that Minato didn't come up with anything aside from the Pokémon gimmick and a secondary female rider. So Tsukada had to come up with the alchemy setting and fusing two cards to make a form that meshes 2 concepts seamlessly and Shirakura had to come up with the highschool setting. The only things he was forced upon was making a Rider season in the first place since he was working as a vice producer on King-Ohger which he himself said he wanted to stay there since he put a lot of effort into making Toufu and Isshabana, the show having a card gimmick and the card gimmick not having a TCG, all 3 of these things by Shirakura, the other thing he was forced upon was to have Hasegawa as a co-writer because both Tsukada and Shirakura thought that having a setting with no villains was too aimless.
Minato is simply incompetent, it's why vice producer Matsuura had to take matters into his own hands and kind of shadow produce the show by bringing a third writer for Rinne since the other two didn't know what to do with her which is ironic considering that it was the only idea that actually came from Minato. This is also the reason why thr only thing something like this has happened has been Gotchard, veteran producers usually just do QA checks and give suggestions in the pre-production rather than coming up with setting ideas, if a setting is forced upon the producer it's usually by Toei's president like how it was with Dekaranger, when it comes to the vice producer situation I think the only other case kind of like that is Zi-O where Shirakura was extremely incompetent due to not wanting to do a crossover show so vice producer Takebe and the director Tasaki had to come up with setting ideas and choose a main writer.

I'm indeed bias but Tsukada and Shirakura have never intervened this much on a tokusatsu season, and the post-series interviews implied that everything I personally hated about Gotchard like the season being overtly safe, not exploring the alchemy setting, not using the highschool setting enough and limiting the writers' creativity was all due to Minato so he's indeed incompetent, even though he didn't want to make a Rider season, he was pulled out of King-Ohger early enough that this shouldn't have caused any scheduling issues for him.
My only cope in defending Minato is that either he wanted to be overtly safe and allow veteran producers to help that much because he wanted his first Rider season to be a success and he admires the two producers, from my understanding Minato dreamt of working on Toei since high-school and would constantly investigate about how tokusatsu were made but couldn't get a job there at first which is why he had to become an assistant producer at studio Madhouse instead, so him being allowed to make Gotchard might have been a big deal for him. Shirakura and Tsukada basically started the project, they requested Minato to leave King-Ohger to work on Rider, and went on to have a direct hand in the pre-production stage seemingly because they were invested in mentoring him, though their directions were very different. They were even having personal exchanges with Bandai for the project, and Shirakura basically told Minato exactly what he had to do whenever he proposed something and had questions about it, which is apparently a rare thing for him to do. Shira-P also told him Kamen Rider should be handled as a program (I guess a generic childrens' show like Zi-O and Zenkaiger) instead of a work (I guess something more story-focused and with an auteur approach like Kuuga, Hibiki's first half, Build or King-Ohger).

Basically, it seems like Shirakura and Tsukada were more involved than usual in this particular project, possibly in an attempt to cut some of Minato's work out for him, ease his transition into head producer, and ensure his first project went without a hitch and became a success. But it backfired because they gave him contradicting directions, some honestly terrible advice (for the quality of the show), and pushed their own concepts and ideas onto the project which Minato didn't know what to do about later on.

I really don't get when people say that Gotchard had too many ideas, highschool alchemists is only like two degrees of separation from Harry Potter, a series for infants that is overwhelmingly popular. While I agree the acting is part of the issue and that Kabuto and Decade are complete messes, the writing on Gotchard is also a problem. Besides the good casting in Kabuto, a big part of the show is how likeable and entertaining most of the characters are thanks to how they're written, while also having an interesting setting that's similar to "They Live" and doing the most they can with the concept even of the plot makes no sense at times and characters fluctuate motivations/demeanor suddenly sometimes. Tasaki removing the scene explaining how he reached Ouroboros makes his backstory feel shallow/convenient, the staff not actually having anything planned with his dad and his mom being underutilized doesn't help. Matsuura changing him freeing the chemies so that the Sisters do it instead makes his motivation for the chemmies feel weird at first. His upgrade in the finale makes him even more like a Gary Stu and Clotho being underutilized also hurts his character. It did, it just didn't involve time travel at first until Tasaki said "it would be a crime for a Rider who uses a watch to not us time travel", and Shirakura tried to argue against bringing past actors, but Takebe pressured him to still do the idea. Typically I think people recommend phase 2 Heisei because they are the style that Rider is done nowadays.
Early Heisei had a very distinct tone but Den-O was such a huge paradigm shift. Ryuki is an amazing series but it's so different from everything else it's a bit rough to recommend as an introduction to "what Kamen Rider is."
"Watch what seems cool" is also a fine experience but of course that comes with the caveats that there are some series that have amazing aesthetics but lackluster writing.

Welp, finally finished 555 after holding it off for so long. What a journey that was. I'll say for sure, that 555 is definitely more about the characters and the journey than the ending.
