It feels like they were way too much in love with Tetsuya here outside of the Mazinkaiser debut stage itself. Even the Mazin Power awakening stage starts with Tetsuya complaining about Kouji's attitude, shows Kouji was unprepared when he tries to change and then Tetsuya takes over a similar Kaiser-type and does things the "right" way.

Tetsuya also is portrayed as this adult veteran while Kouji seems to be treated as very young compared to him which is kind of weird. This isn't Shin Mazinger. Tetsuya is just a couple of years older than Kouji.

Edge and Az had their own plot stuff, but it was fairly separate from the actual OG plot, mostly about the Federation ruining their childhood with cyber-newtype-like experiments and them helping each other and trying to rebuild their lives afterwards, while Mitsuba was the one directly connected to the OG enemies and ancient civilization stuff going on.

It's the same deal where Mitsuba is the main protagonist while Az or Edge plays support, but 30 has a lot less OG plot and a lot less character development as a result. There's a thing where the Dreisstrager's AOS system is actually the will of Orchicadea, the evil bitch that the Quaestors overthrew, and she comes back and takes over the ship by mind-controlling everyone, but then that all gets resolved in one stage and it's never important again. The Willforce plot is the same idea but spread out over the whole game in a way where it actually impacts stuff: all of the super robot villains are archenemies of the Willforce, the Getter plot shows what'll happen if it's left unchecked, Echika has a real character arc where she gets to the point where she doesn't need it anymore and can reject it in favor of the power she and her citizens have within them, stuff like that is something Mitsuba just doesn't really have.

It's why when 30 had just come out and people hadn't gotten to the end yet there was a whole bunch of shitposting fake spoilers about Empress Mitsuba taking over the Federation, because that would at least have been interesting.

And like I said, this is just part of it. Tetsuya is portrayed as this veteran character and often pops up in other character plotlines giving training tips and such alongside other veterans, while Kouji's presence is much more limited and he's lumped with the younger pilots who still have much to learn.

Their gameplay mechanics are a little aggravating, but I also just really prefer fighting a faction with actual characters. On my last playthrough I was doing OG1 at the same time and I immensely preferred fighting the DC and how you had actual rival pilots on the enemy side talking to you and getting up to their own shenanigans. The Dark Brain lackeys kinda-sorta serve that role but Dabudebubide or however the fuck you spell that is downright annoying, and Crystal Dragoon is too subdued to get many interesting interactions.

There is absolutely nothing edgy about Cross at all. Even when he slips into his serious assassin “I’ll kill you if I have to mode” it’s just straight up business.
He’s really easygoing and has good chemistry with the older pilots while also serving as a mentor at times but has fun trolling the younger pilots and Echika.
I actually think his biggest flaw is that he really doesn’t have any major quirks that can be counted as flaws, so he comes off as really impeccable. You use it for the efficiency. Kaiser gattai buffed Gridknight Storm to be as strong as Dynazenon Full Burst while retaining the same cost.
Also the combination replenish everything while casting a free zeal, so you're encouraged to use Gridknight and Dynazenon before combining.
You can use Love'd Rex Roar, then cast Valor, Charge, Trick, Pierce before combining, then attack with Dynamic Cannon for literally no cost in SP or energy. After that you're still free to use Zeal and Love again.

You'll probably get Shinn and Kira together in the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice, then the actual movie plot starts midway through and they're taken out, with Athrun then returning in the Infinite Justice spec 2 with ejectable ZGokk armor. Then Kira and Shinn return with the Strike Freedom and Destiny after a few stages.

The standard Strike Freedom spec 2 could be in since they'd just need to slightly tweak its colors, but they also could skip straight to Mighty Strike Freedom if they don't want to recycle sprites for whatever reason.

Endless Waltz is always retold when they include it, even if it goes by really quickly, so I could see the same happening here, rather than pulling a CCA and start doing post-plot or original takes on it.
