Cops called on Patlabor
So the 1/1 Ingram is at Tokyo Race Course today

Some fucking psycho old lady saw it and got offended that it had the police department markings on it alongside the live action movie's title shuto kessen (decisive battle in the capital) which she thought was some kind of extremist right wing thing and called the cops and war arguing loudly at the entrance about some crackpot shit about how the Ingram is a symbol of how the far right is trying to start world war 3

to be fair that's pretty patlabor

I don't expect this to be in the news, there's no races going on in Tokyo today (it's a Hanshin/Nakayama day) and this happened on the bridge near the 2nd floor entrance not in front of the Ingram itself so maybe only 10-20 people or so saw/heard the altercation

Children were very disappointed by the deck up "performance" (as usual)

Also interestingly there was a relatively young (late 20s/early-mids 30s?) couple that I overheard talking about Patlabor and it was the girl who was nerding out and talking about Izubuchi while the guy was just kind of nodding along clearly clueless
Anonymous No.23550060 [Report]
If anyone here is in Tokyo you can still make it to the 3 PM deck up (the Twitter post saying 2 PM is wrong), entry is free today because there's no races on
Anonymous No.23550068 [Report]
Because of the location and lack of popularity (there couldn't have been more than 30-40 people there) you can get way closer to the thing than when they do it at events like Wonder Festival too
Anonymous No.23550073 [Report] >>23550124 >>23550263
That's all from me, have a lot more photos but there's not much to look at since they're all pretty samey

None of the anti-SV2 protest cosplayers were present when I was there, pity (would've been funny if the psycho old lady thought they were real and joined them or something)
Anonymous No.23550110 [Report]
That's hilarious OP, thanks for sharing.

Absolutely.

Oh this is new so might as well post it

There were JRA (Japan Racing Association) markings this time

LMAO
Seems like it was a pretty comfy event other than that
Anonymous No.23550127 [Report]
But yeah basically nobody around so you can get real close

The race course is only about 30-40 minutes from Shinjuku (Keio line express to Fuchu > local to Higashi Fuchu > direct line to race course) so again if anyone's in Tokyo right now you can still make the 3 PM deck up
Anonymous No.23550132 [Report]
And just for the hell of it here's a photo from the last time I saw it at Wonder Festival in 2023, gets pretty crowded when it's at that sort of event

It seems that the cops are still at the race course and now I'm worried that they might have to cover up the police markings.

https://x.com/n_oki/status/1972147204589777044

They already have to cover up the 警視庁 markings while in transit because of traffic laws and this might result in them having to cover them up permanently if they take that one psycho bitch seriously

fuck

It actually fell into disrepair for a time because it was just left to rot in a parking lot exposed the elements for years and it was only in 2022 that they restored it with a crowfunding campaign and started parading it around again

who currently owns the ingram then?
Anonymous No.23550348 [Report]
>>23550331
It's complex but the IP is owned by Headgear while this Ingram itself is currently owned by Genco which is the place working on Patlabor Ezy and also currently being entrusted with the rights to the IP

The other Ingram with the cockpit has the IP on license to a completely different, unrelated company

Anonymous No.23551276 [Report]
To be fair, Otha's antics would be enough to have head fall.

Speaking of the the live TNG, I was very disappointed. Sure milked the "budget problem" to have as little mecha as possible, but the budget they had they only spent it rehashing Patlabor's episodes, badly.

And it's unforgivable they had a whole medieval army of technician and they couldn't bother to redo THAT one episode episode.

Fuck off that's just a Noa and Asuma bit playing out in real life, that Ingram is clearly emitting a reality distortion field.

Patlabor's basically just real life if forklifts were cooler. If anything it's a bit nicer than reality most of the time.
