An actor dies? Like Kobayashi and Arakawa are good at making safe shows so if Kuji decides to do a show like that it would still be great, both are also really great at adapting to impromptu situations so Takebe pulling some bullshit wouldn't ruin the show either. Muto is the one who I'm unsure if he would adapt well to Takebe's whims or if he's even capable of doing a "safe show" when his whole deal is making dark heroes as protagonists but I feel like even him is talented enough that it would work well.
Really the only setback that could ruin a season like this is an actor, director, producer or writer dying mid-series. Either way it's not like Kobayashi will come back but it would be nice if Arakawa or Muto came back, but iirc the only person with Muto's contact is Yanaka and another producer whose currently in Toei's drama division.

The only reasoning I could see for him not wanting to come back is the pressure of living up to Kuuga or him feeling guilty that his slump led to the cancelation of Kuuga's movie
But in most instances it seems like producers get their first choice for writers, but I guess they usually don't say if the writer they got wasn't their first choice to not make them feel bad, I think Gozyuger was the only time in both franchise that it has been implicitly stated that the initial main writer wasn't their first choice.

Having just finished Revice, I have to say it isn't the worst season of Rider IMO. I've seen half of Showa and everything Kuuga-Revice + Gavv, it's in the bottom half of shows but not THE worst like I've heard.

My Reiwa ranking so far is
