I don't get why LoGH kept going on after episode 54. Reinhart got his empire, the Alliance was in shambles, everyone went home, and by every metric the story should have ended. And yet it decided to keep going. There is this plot about the Church of Terra, but outside of like three episodes neither side seems to directly address the problem despite the fact they're behind a shitload of problems. It feels like filler, like the staff was waiting on the author to finish books so they were padding things out to stall time.

It's a lot like Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion: Act like something westerners will recognize and acknowledge gay people exist. Suddenly it's adult sci-fi for the cool 90s kids. Same logic applies to stuff like Berserk and Utena. In fact there is kind of a formula with all the "hip" 90s anime Americans like when you get right down to it.

Many plot threads were yet to be resolved, it wasn't just about Reinhard becoming Kaiser.

This is a fictional setting, not real life, so the comparison you made is not apt.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but the fake out before was so funny.

Made it to episode 81, the preview says Yang dies but to be honest I really don't care at this point. Like, where could it even go after that? There's still another 28 episodes, that seems like too much time to finish off the Church of Terra and Rubinsky. This series feels too unfocused I swear.

the remake seems to be more your speed op. it takes extra special care to coddle and handhold its viewers

I intend to finish this series regardless, it literally is the end of my backlog.

Being the best part of a slogfest doesn't negate the slog parts, anon. Not sure why you guys have such a hateful reaction, I'm not even trying to get on anyone's nerves, just being honest. Is the LoGH fandom just not used to people critiquing the main work
>>23576034
Too many episodes, no.

Oh please, don't act like the average LOGHead isn't a pseud who watched for the prestige of watching and not to actually parse Tanaka's riff on a Rot3K scale historical drama.

Welp, made it to episode 84, it went back to being a slog. Is the moral of the story "deal with problems right away BEFORE they kill you"? Because that seems to be it, nobody is taking the Church of Terra seriously and that's how Yang ended up getting shot in the leg.

Thank you, anon.

Made it to episode 86. So... How long until Isherlorn or however it's spelled runs out of food? I get wanting to set up a government, but without ample food and water that's not going to happen and there's not indicator the fortress can do anything agrarian. All the Empire has to do is do a trade embargo and it wins through sheer attrition.

Iserlohn has it's own hydroponics and water distillation plants, it can survive without imported supplies. It doesn't have full shipyards or manufacturing, so nominally you'd be able to inflict enough damage over time to the defense fleet and then bombard the fortress directly with long-range fire to eventually force a surrender.
