Well, if it's the first season, it's only uphill from there so that's good, if it's the last season, at least the second half ends on a high note. I remember one non-/m/ show that was harmlessly low budget but I realized all of it was saved for a very exciting season finale. I just don't think anything with that opening scene I just saw could be a terrible franchise. The first season of the Kirika batch finished downloading, I'll start watching when I have all five. Are there a lot of products for Symphogear? In terms of figures, I could only find expensive Act Modes, 250 USD for the three I just saw in the opening...

Anon it's exactly like Toku. They're basically a Sentai team, with the character drama and feats of Kamen Rider, fighting enemies based on Ultraman kaiju designs. The show is the way it is cause one of the creators is the way he is cause of Ultraman, and the staff always put references to media they love - that includes Toku

The original Ultraman was the only toku show I was able to finish to completion so far, but I was insanely impressed with the 1966 show. This show which captures the spirit of toku will, in turn inspire me to watch more toku! Symphogear really is the gift that keeps on giving, I'm so happy.

nah they just ignored for screentime reasons and then after XV ended Kaneko got so into writing about them during Mechvaranus that he asked the bogdanoffs if he could do an anime adaptation, but they told him to do princession instead

It does have a mid recreation of the story and setting your waifus on the home screen, but the real draw was the event stories set in a near copy of the anime continuity except they dug up a relic that allows for travel between parallel worlds. Very FGO-coded except for the fact that the worlds continue to be revisited over and over for the entire runtime of the game (6.5 years) instead of vanishing which allows for some character arcs spanning multiple years. It also continues to have some of that edge and interpersonal drama found in the show.
For example, instead of just writing the game continuity as having Kanade and Serena being alive to have more characters for the gacha system, they wrote it so that they are from worlds where Tsubasa and Maria died instead, and rather than everyone being extremely happy they get to meet their dead loved one again, they realize the entire situation is very fucked up because that's not actually them ("the real Tsubasa in heaven will judge me if I get attached to this one", "We're not even real sisters, how can I pretend")
It's very fan-fiction coded but has very much gained a cult following among a large part of the fanbase. You'll see fanart of game original characters or outfits to this day despite the game being dead because there was so much content in there and we don't exactly have much else going on since it ended.
Even the ongoing cooking manga is being written by a guy that was addicted to the game and keeps referencing it in various ways.

They also made 3 CDs worth of game original vocal songs, so that helps too.

It's honestly very strange because you will now find those characters showing up in the previously mentioned cooking manga and in merchandise for seasons of the anime where they don't even have a single scene.

If it's not resolved by season 1 episode 12, feels rather ambitious that they were just banking on getting more seasons. But if it's played out for real, then it's probably season 4 so that other people can take over. I'm assuming for whatever reason that she was isekaied instead, but the fact that it was a bloody smile is a bit worrying. Maybe it was just a situation where she was eventually recovered, but to keep Miku and others safe she had to fake her death? I don't think Hibiki would want to do that though, or she'd at least find great difficulty with that choice.

It's actually based on the Nayuta TSF's from Ayu Mayu Alternative, which are TSFs flown by Saint Seiya parodies who channel their superpowers through their machines. As close as Muv Luv's canon comes to what a Symphogear TSF would be.

Well, the little prongs on the gauntlets and the headgear are more or less lifted 1:1 from Gungnir, as are the feet. The shoulder "V2" fins are also very evocative of bikki's rider scarf.
