It's at least a top 3 Gundam series for me. It centers around several factions vying for power (in terms of energy distribution, which would carry control over the Earth Sphere) after a recent acquisition of war technology on Earth from the UC era, which has been established as taboo as it took many, many years to rebuild Earth and recover from atrocities done in that era.
It's stated to take place 1000 years after UC, but Tomino went on to say it's actually after Turn A somewhere. That's where the confusion comes from.

Sunrise also never officially retconned it after the fact. I think only a single Tomino centric-exhibit mentioned the idea of it being after Turn A again, but no other official source ever has.

I say watch it and decide for yourself if it's before or after. Hard to ignore the creator's words, but most of the staff made it with the understanding it was 1000 years after UC ended, so the settings will still lean more towards that.

The early episodes were marred by a completely useless "clanbatz xd" plotline that no one cared for, and then when the plot gets interesting and the Titans show up, they're completely ignored. What moment?

Her role in the final episode is that of a random mook. We don't learn anything about her character in the final fight.
She starts the episode moping around in the G-Fred after betraying Kycilia and has absolutely no knowledge of what is going on with the Rose of Sharon and Shuji's goals. She helps Machu defeat Shuji only because Machu asks her, she gets defeated unceremoniously and goes right back to where her character was on side-6: obsessing over Shuji.

I'm expecting a long and detailed response from you, shitposter-kun. I really loved Gquack up until the brothel episode (I think that's n°6?) and if you can convince me that there's something I missed in the second half that can make me like the show more I would be genuinely glad.

If it was 2 cours, or especially the good old fashion 52 eps, it would have had a far smoother experience in fleshing out the setting and characters.

I'm not going to drill on Eva, I thought it was pretty good but it feels like Anno does his best when subverting and referencing things (which makes sense since the 0079 sections were pretty neat). The problem with Shin Kamen Rider is that it basically assumes the audience is already into Rider and knows what he's referencing, even though it's a reboot that should be a starting point of new viewers. But it doesn't work as that for most people. He doesn't build suspension of disbelief or anything, just throws the viewer in the middle of the plot with a bunch of odd aesthetics if you don't know Rider already and then goes running ahead.

That said, Anno only actually wrote the 0079 parts of GQX. He wasn't the director or writer for anything else, just having some minor input here and there. GQX is more Kazuya Tsurumaki's work (FLCL, Diebuster).

I like how we get a more character driven show where personal motivations of the main cast can swing things just as much as that of the political movers & shakers...

If you're doing character drama, you need a tad more time spent on characters and your final arc cannot be resolved with Newtype magic bullshit alone unless it ties into meaningful character development.

This ending didn't, Machu just "powered through" with youthful exuberance and learned absolutely no lessons.

I know not everything needs to be said out loud, like I loved the irony of Kycilia giving Nya an gun and telling her to just shoot her problems... then getting shot in turn.

But if you're gonna Eva your Gundam, then your main cast needs to go somewhere. Shinji (finally!) fucking grows up by the end of Rebuild and triumphs over his dad by pointing out the latter's teenage bullshit. (Only took ~25 years IRL, but I'll take it).

Where did our main cast go? OK, Shuuji learns that obsession is not love, but you cannot make your Cloudcuckoolander the vessel of your character drama in the very last act!

It was supposed to air before WfM, but Bandai didn't want to rush the project after COVID delays pushed everything back, so they rushed WfM to be filler while giving Khara more time to work on the series. The anime was already nearly complete, but with the extra time, they basically went and redid entire parts of it and even brought the VAs back to squeeze in more details that they wanted to. However, Bandai's agreements with various TV stations as well as Amazon was already locked into 12 episodes, so they couldn't alter the episode count.
