Gundam 00
I'm 15 episodes in and I'm finding it dull. There's no hook. Why should I care about these brooding "dark and mysterious" bishounen or the overarching conflict? Does it get better later?

What is it with retards forcing themselves to watch stuff they don't like with some magical hope they'll start caring about it later. The 3 episodes rule is tried and true.

I am actually tired of not liking things other people like. I don't want to be a contrarian anymore because it is causing me severe alienation.

I'm genuinely curious what people like about Gundam 00 which is why I made the thread. So far there's just nothing interesting that's happened. If someone helps me understand what's good about it, I might like it more. From what I know, it's highly regarded.
For what's worth, I haven't really watched much of the Gundam AUs, so maybe that's the problem.

Good fucking god, just drop it then you monumental anal prolapse. You're allowed to have an opinion about shows you don't need to come here asking for permission to like or not like or drop something.

People like things because they align with their tastes. There's no some hidden deep meaning in 00 that makes it click for people, they just like the robots, characters and action around em. I personally really like Season 1 mecha designs and most of my enjoyment in regards to 00 comes from seeing gundam team blowing shit up in spectacular fashion.
Anonymous No.23608480 [Report] >>23608530
These two are also fun, though I don't know why we're following them. It's mostly the main 4 dudes who are charisma vacuums.

I really don't get why this is so hard for some people. It's not like we're secretly watching a different show and laughing about it.

I think the best character is already dead by that point, so the best times are already over. And general consensus is S2 is much worse. Get out while you can if you hate it already

The anon you're replying to at least gave me an actual answer. I don't know what's so difficult about giving some specifics as to why you like something.
For instance, part of my enjoyment of the main UC Gundam was everything to do with Char since he's such a driven character. I also liked the White Base crew since they're the underdogs and totally unprepared for the war. And there were memorable moments like Amuro running away, Char betraying Garma, then all the Newtype shenanigans, etc.
With 00 so far it's just been
>"Celestial Being.... what will you do?!"
>The guys show up to intervene and then a fight happens, rinse and repeat

>the best character is already dead by that point

Lockon? He's completely unremarkable.
But at least this anime is genuinely getting more interesting ever since they introduced the new Gundam pilots.

You'll get a real answer when you ask a real question. All you said was "I DON'T LIKE THING!" Well here's a hot tip for the future, generally if you start not liking something, your opinion is probably not gonna chance.

The hook is five gundam pilots youre supposed to find cool going around saying "both sides bad" and stomping everyone into the ground with their awesome gundams. If thats too juvenile for you dont expect to enjoy this.

The three Episode rule doesnt work on 00. Its one of those shows where it takes a bit to really get going kind of like LOGH which IMO you need to go until episode 20 where Kireichies leaves the picture

S1 gets good around the Trinities introduction though. Before that I think it does too much self analyzing

LOGH is good right away though and Nene barely does jack shit in S2
Anonymous No.23609222 [Report]

Have anyone new watch episode 1 of LOGH and they will intensely disagree and practically say the same thing im about to say to you: It drones on and on with babble, situational philosophy and throws a fuckload of characters at you in the starting episodes that leave the lightest of impressions.

Its not until about 20 episodes in where it all gets reasonably coherent because it more strongly adopts arching plots for more characters that are in bolder positions than Kiricheis and stops trying to overexplain its brands of technomagic. 00 S1 almost has the same problem by starting off with a bunch of inuniverse terms and idealogies the viewer wont understand but the show ultimately be omes more coherent the more cornered the characters become.

To be honest, before the first broadcast, I saw Exia and thought it was an ugly mecha with a snail on its back. Also, the beginning of the first season wasn't very interesting. However, by the end of the first season, the story got more interesting, and by the end of the second season, it had become a legendary work. Incidentally, the latest Mission: Impossible movie is a imitation of 00.

Great animation, great designs, great music, love the cold war esque power struggle setup in S1, Setsuna and Tieria's character arcs are pretty neat. It's the rare case of a franchise story handling metafictional ideas succinctly. Also has some neat religious stuff. 2 of the best final duels in the franchise. The movie also takes Gundam in an interesting direction.

>>23609229
I never cared for Exia much until Ebikawa went back and created the metal build version of the design. the proportional changes there and some of the adjustments he made to the forms just gives it so much more appeal to me. It's easily one of the best figures I've ever owned in terms of aesthetic appeal.

Obligatory

Anyway, OP. 00 is better done Wing, because it doesn't drag in the middle because they needed to stop main antagonist from taking over the world by retiring rin, which required taking Gundams from MC because nobody could beat them without him, until he took over the world in 15 minutes after returning.

But it isn't the same super special animu boysband with dark past. It had relevant political commentary at the time, and had good S1 finale, but if it isn't your coup of tea it is understandable.

It tricked people into thinking it did
It's the same old "there'd be no war if we all just understood each other dude" message Gundam usually has except dressed up in a vaguely middle Eastern setting that isn't required for the story to be told the way it is really, you could change the setting entirely without needing to change the characters much
Anonymous No.23613919 [Report]
>>23613912
True, but S1 had less understanding and it was big political blocks, terrorism, utilitarianism, and middle east.

You are literally RIGHT on the cusp of a big wrench being thrown into things. Season 1 in particular is beloved for the final arc, but you need the buildup to make it impactful.

>because it doesn't drag in the middle
Yes it does. After they rescue Allelujah the show becomes boring and aimless. Setsuna is the only person on the ship with any sense of agency. Everyone else is just standing around.

It's not good in my opinion.
The politics are especially childish nonsense that fall apart if you use your brain. The military tactics are awful too where both sides lead their teams into massacres for no reason. I didn't like any of the characters besides the Russian guy, but if you do like the cast that would be a reason to watch it I suppose.
Haven't seen anything else besides 00 and G but it has solidified my opinion that Gundam is overhyped stuff that isn't actually that good.

>Gundam is overhyped stuff that isn't actually that good.
If you like world building, good music and great VAing work Gundam is indeed "that good" If youre after characters though then Zeta is still undefeated in that area.

End of the day though its just some nerd hobby show and you shouldnt place much on it.
