I think marriage between a slave and an owner doesn't really make sense to me, at least not if legal ownership is possible and involved. Marriage implies bilateral obligations - it brings commitment to the slave but also to the owner, and what's more, it's a symmetric commitment. The more meaningfuly you treat marriage (e.g. the more taboo adultery is, the more difficult and rare divorce is) the more you bind the owner through it, which seems counter-productive. For example, if the owner wants to keep their slave but also finds another free pony that they want to marry, why should owning a slave preclude them from this? If the owner has married their slave, they now no longer have this option. It's a weird power dynamic.
You can of course go and say that in a society where ponies are kept as slaves maybe traditional marriage is not kept very strictly, but then there's little point in the first place: if you can remarry willy-nilly and faithfulness is little more than a suggestion, then being married doesn't really change much anyway, so why bother? The bond of ownership is going to be much stronger anyway.

The only way to solve this is with some kind of asymmetrical obligation, e.g. the slave must remain faithful to the owner while the owner is free to do whatever they want. But then that's just no longer marriage at all. In fact, you know what gives an asymmetrical obligation? Ownership. The slave, as property, can have an expectation of lifelong loyalty and dedication to their owner, while the owner is free to keep multiple slaves, marry a free pony and start a family, maybe even sell their slave.

There is one circumstance where marriage makes sense, and it's in a context where slavery/ownership is not actually socially acceptable, so the slave relationship is kept secret. Marriage can then be a way to bind owner and slave together in society's eyes, even if the bond that other ponies percieve will be rather different to what goes on in reality. But even then, the couple will be a married couple first, and owner/slave couple second/"in the bedroom only": the owner, for example, still can't take multiple slaves this way, they can't marry a free pony and start a normal family, etc. So it's something that might work in a cute/wholesome setting where the owner and slave genuinely love each other and want to dedicate their lives to each other, just in different ways - where the "ownership" dynamic is a mutually agreed power exchange, not an inescapable fact of the slave's life.

Perhaps, but I just don't think it's the right tool for the job. If you want your owner to have some obligations to the slave, make it so that there's some decent anti-abuse laws. Say if indentured slavery is common, make contracts strictly observed, so a would-be slave can get their owner to commit that they won't be sold, for example. Or make it normal for slaves to be more like generational family servants rather than disposable cattle, so e.g. running down a slave to their death would be illegal, and selling off or getting rid of a slave would be pretty taboo and socially a sign that you're unable to care for them - meaning you're either highly irresponsible or destitute, for example.

I mean yes but at a certain point it's no longer marriage. My point is that if it's still similar to normal marriage then it doesn't really fit very well, and if you change it enough to fit then it has to be different enough that why call it marriage then? Well, paint is meant to cover the substrate entirely, latex or no. Especially something like building paint, which is often meant to seal the material undernearth, be durable against all kinds of damage and elements (especially outside), and last for years if not decades ideally.
Dye is completely different, it's meant to cover hair only, not the skin underneath.

This is something I've tried to figure out before, and I think I've got it. Cadence is a weird one, and somewhat hypocritical. She's a hypersexual pony with an intense fetish who's intelligent enough to rationalize and justify her desires into a philosophy. Her belief is that mares will be better off in her world, and that's actually where her focus is. You'll notice her rhetoric is always on how this is good for mares, how it's what they want, how it's what they desire etc. and never on how it's good for stallions. She's sharp enough to rationalize how this is good for stallions too and probably wouldn't miss a beat if pressed on it, but that's not what she's thinking of most of the time. Cadence would be trying to rig things such that it provides fulfillment to the mare.
From her perspective, the ultimate "success" for a mare is to find her prince charming, meaning somepony who is better than them to marry. The lowborn being chosen by some socialite, aristocrat, hero, celebrity etc. is a success story. Her work will be done when all mares have a partner who they feel- not think, but feel- is so far above them that they should have been unattainable. This requires some level of commitment so they have a clear goal for having "made it".

I figure that, if she had her way, owning a slave would be a trivial matter with no obligations whatsoever, but masters could symbolically "marry" their slave if they so chose. A different label could be used, it doesn't have to actually be marriage. This would be their master making a promise or commitment to their property, saying they intended to keep them forever, and expressing their appreciation for them. It might come with a trinket of some sort, maybe a ring that can't be removed because of magic/locks or perhaps a brand over their womb to permanently mark them as their property. The master would get nothing out of this since he already owns them, but the slave would get their commitment from somepony way beyond their social standing. A storybook romance, as told by a sex addicted maniac.

The reason for putting her at risk is me being a futurist and a nerd who wants to bring up pharmaceuticals that aren't yet available but I expect to end up taking before I die. I think I can also leverage that into giving Cadence a decent character moment.

The simple answer for how Cadence reached these ideals is that I thought it would make a good fit for the thread. If you wanted something in fiction, it's been touched on before but I can't recall with how much detail. The gist of it is that she wanted something more than her husband. She gave him a chance since she could find nopony that satisfied her checklist, and fell madly in love with him and wound up quite happy, but is somewhat shaken by the fact that she nearly rejected him. Cadence is painfully aware that, had she been just slightly pickier, she would have wound up alone, and Flurry wouldn't exist. Observing relationships and dating strategies lead her to believe that everypony is looking for the "best" mate they can find, which is reasonable, but that the selection criteria are sometimes misguided. She concluded that the problem is that she's a princess, and that she had been looking for somepony of similar social standing. No such stallion exists, obviously. Had she NOT been a princess, she likely wouldn't have hesitated when he asked her out. She then got to thinking that other mares might make a similar in looking for status, and here we have Harshwhinny proving her right, and Rarity having historically proven her right. Way back when, I gave the thread the vote on who would be the primary mare, and they picked Rarity. It was pretty lucky, honestly, since she fits in so well. Cadence has given up on convincing ponies to marry lower into the pecking order, and saw two paths. Elevate the stallions, or lower the mares. Why not both?
It's the utopian thinking of a hopeless romantic who wants every filly to find her prince charming, even if that comes at a price.

You know, I have no idea what the nasal cavity of a pony should look like. Nasal cavities are relatively non-intuitive and ponies have unusual enough anatomy that I can't just picture it in my head from first principles. Horse nostrils are gigantic but shaped like a relatively even straight tube all the way to the pharynx, humans have small nostrils and a narrow pharynx but a big dome-shaped cavity for some reason, so I dunno wtf a pony's would be like.

Yeah thats why I thought of the corset in the first place. Its constrictive, lockable, adjustable, can hide beneath the flight suit or redesigned as a seamless part of the cadet outfit. Its a constantly uncomfortable apparel thats always being felt by the pony, just like a really tight collar.

But I like the latex internals too, only for a completely unrelated reason, such as denying a dolled up pony any kind of kissing taste from her mistress, or any kind of taste overall that isnt just rubber.

If it's a punishment for complete outcases, why not just mold some latex onto the muzzle sealing the nostrils? It just needs to be magic enough to prevent the skin and fur from getting inflamed and that's it.
Make it from black latex for a more visible seal or from clear latex to make it more subtle from a distance but just as inconveniencing.
