It's kinda scary when you think about how quickly we all latched onto this show.
It's like some primal urge that we didn't know we had got awakened by the existence of this show.
Remember when we said the show was stupid, that it was made for little girls?
Then we started liking it, then we started growing attracted to the characters.
I really do think MLP needs to be studied and analyzed by a research team to find out what caused this unique fascination of cartoon horse appeal and why even to this day the fandom still hasn't died down and still continues to keep going.

Read fandom history. Halfway through season 1 it was already a huge thing causing trouble on /co/ and /b/. The initial spark caused a huge explosion right away. Some people had long fuses and joined much later, but mlp was big from the beginning. For me it took like 2 weeks of seeing ponies on /b/ before I tried it, because I was sure it has to be a joke. But 2 weeks was long enough to doubt enough to try it.

I was never into the show. I'm into what the show could be and what the creative community does with it.

it certainly has an archetypal resonance like a good folk story, at first
