I understand and appreciate the idea of loving and hugging and well-treating Misty, of course, obviously. But at the same time, I can understand Misty better back when she was abused nonstop. She was such a relatable, lovable character, and I’m honestly jealous at how much abuse Opaline gave her all the time! IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
But I do want her to be happy too, and I agree that I’d love to see more of her learning to love herself and unlearning the decades of abuse that she faced. Imagine if Izzy was going in to hug her and Misty flinched because she thought she was about to get hit or something. Wouldn’t that be awesome?!
Anyway, if you’re ever at a con at all someday, we should definitely meetup. This applies to all Misty lovers. I love her too!

Well, see, for me, I didn’t get into the show until after it got cancelled. I only saw the movie and hated it. And everything from the show that I did catch a glimpse of fucking sucked ass as well. I didn’t know anything about Misty or really see her. All I saw was terrible songs, a godawful version of “Spike,” a shitty baby dragon, and that’s pretty much it.
When I started posting more regularly here, after the shows cancellation (which I admit, I took a victory lap over initially), I did see was occasional shitposts about her being a crybaby that cries all the time and that that was pretty much her entire character.
I just remember thinking, “Wow, ALL the G5 characters suck. If this one is somehow the worst, that must REALLY be saying something! How annoying could she possibly be?!”
Then I saw her in the Camp Cutie Mark trailer, which I still maintain looked good, and I’m trying to maintain hope isn’t cancelled, despite the evidence. So, honestly, I hated the end of G4 so, so much, and this seemed like a return to basics.
Even though Misty cried immediately in the trailer, aligning with the only thing I’d heard about her, I still immediately loved her as part of this new show. At the time I thought, “Even if she originally sucked, this new show is gonna make her a good character. I’m so excited!!!”
But then, I finally saw her in the actual show, and yeah, she does NOT suck. But I watched it out of order, so I was surprised by how much she went through without more context to her character. I was kinda like, “This is the pony everyone’s calling a crybaby?! But she’s going through so much pain and enduring surprisingly well. I’d be crying more than her.”
So, anyway, long story short, I do love her, but you do have to understand that I fell in love with her as a hater, if that makes any sense. She’s the ONLY good thing about G5. (And Opaline, but Opaline only gets that honor thanks to her relationship with Misty.)
